Hello people!
I have a question related to the 3.5mm audio jack on my laptop that was supposed to be SPDIF enabled, i was hoping someone with more experience would explain the situation to me.
I am using spdif ports on my PC, and i dont like the idea of the "normal" connection anymore.
I assumed that SPDIF connection can be either Coaxial or optical.
But now i bought a 11 inch laptop that was supposed to be SPDIF enabled.
But the connector that was supposed to be SPDIF is a normal 3.5mm headphone connector, which i always belived cant carry SPDIF signal.
So my question is how can I connect the 3,5mm connector with my reciever so that SPDIF would work??
Is it at all possible??
Do I have to use some kind of adapter (3,5mm to coaxial or optical) or it would maybe work with 3,5mm to RCA (white and red) or 3,5mm to 3,5 mm?
I understand the software part of setting up SPDIF and i have all connectors on my reciever.
I just dont know what kind of connection i must use for SPDIF to work and i d rather not buy all of the cables/converters and try them all.
I ve tried the manufacturer pages, and there is no info.
Thank you in advance.
P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong section of the forum.
