  1. Have heard whisperings there is a Ref10 already in Colorado for RMAF. YFS, Mutec, and EMM Labs Team Up for RMAF 2016!
  2. double +1 that Mutec 3+USB AES into Yggy helps deliver a clear step forward in clarity, background, and instrument location. looking forward to the Mutec firmware upgrade in June which will deliver another sonic improvement. as well as any (potential) future hardware upgrades to Yggy in the 2017 and beyond.
  3. Julian, just to clarify the "significant sonic improvement"- will existing Mutec MC-3+USB users with the (eventual) new firmware, but without the new external clock device, realize these sonic improvements? trying to verify if the firmware alone yields the "sonic improvement" or if it's firmware + new external clock. thank you!
  4. Ok I certainly shall try this for at least a week based on your advice, going AES into your Yggy also? Thanks for the tip. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  5. ^This. Have yet to see an engineered reason why "doubling units with galvanic isolation" is needed. Swapping out my LPS fed Regen for a Mutec 3+USB in a week to go AES into Yggy and be done with USB band aids. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  6. Oh thin skinned audiophiles are so fun.... Hey, it's a Forum where anyone can opine even if YOU didn't ask for it. Grow a pair. Yup, was wrong thinking you wanted to add an Intona ("I will have to buy this next.") to this chain, which you deployed as: Wyrd, iPurifier2, W4S RUR, iBooster and a battery. It appears as two reclockers (Wyrd+RUR), one active filter, two sources of power (Wyrd and battery) and 3 USB cables in between. Congrats on finding a magick redundant synergy chain. Do let us know if the Intona replaces anything or augments everything. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  7. Yah fine. If 5 USB cleanup devices ($500-$700 in sum?) are required it's obvious to question why none of them do the job properly in singularity or even pairs. A wise man once typed: "The Land of Diminishing Returns lies at the edge of the Mid-Fi Hell flatlands, where there are many mirages and distractions." Enjoy the journey of combinatorial tweaks. Indeed no amp cleans up noise. A better amp just delivers sound better or differently. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  8. why? because adding Galvanic Isolation in device #1 (Intona) helps Galvanic Isolation in device #2 (Mutec) ?? considering Intona has no reclocking I fail to see the potential gains unless your source USB signal is so poor that "double GI" is somehow a magic pairing?
  9. really? 4 USB "conditioner products" for feeding a meager O2 amp and Beyer headphones and you want to add a *fifth* USB product (Intona)? spend money on a better amp or top of the line headphones and stop over complicating your USB chain. having owned both Wyrd and Ifi Purifier 2, they can be eclipsed (likely) by the W4S on it's own or a Regen Amber via LPS or Mutech 3+USB if you want spdif into your BiFrost. balance/synergy is best across the whole chain, don't fixate on multiple USB tweaks which in reality may never be truly revealed at the other side of the amp.
  10. Yes, for months with a hand built LPS. and yes, definite improvement in clarity and definition. same for an esteemed SBAF friend nearby also, his EC Studio amp resolution is even more apparent.
  11. apparently with the new LH Labs Lightspeed Revive it (battery) is. complete with 10Gbps bidirectional.
  12. okey doke- sounds similar to what atomicbob has said about PC2-XR: "Using a transformer to perform Balanced to Single Ended conversion is necessary to avoid output driver damage when the balanced output has not been designed to have pin 3 shorted to pin 1, which is often the case for XLRF to RCA adapters."
  13. no way I'm simply using those with Yggy XLR outs, especially with the output being 2x of Yggy SE. instead I'm 24hours into using a Jensen PC-2XR to go from XLR to SE on my Eddie Current Black Widow amp. (to HE1K headphone) last night it seemed like a slight (5%) step up in increased details and sound stage but really need more extended listening time and a swap back to SE also at some point. FYI- dead black background as well. zero noise or hiss even with no music playing and BW volume knob cranked to max.
