i wish Computer Audiophile can do a full-length review on EMU 0404 USB, this is really a product in a class of its own in terms of features and cost.

about a week ago i did a comparison between 0404USB and Chord QBD76 (a much much more costly DAC my friend's using), and of course QBD76 is better, but not as much as i previously imagined. QBD76 is better mainly in the bass range, and my friend also agreed that 0404USB is an outstanding device, because we just can't hear any difference between the digital output of 0404USB and the Chord Blu cd player when both of them were connected to the QBD76 DAC. Could anyone tell me is it good to replace the original USB cable with an audiophile cable, thx!

these days i read from a local forum (i live in hong kong) telling me to replace the transformer come along with the 0404USB because it is an "electronic adapter" (i am not a technical guy so i don't know what is bad about an electronic adapter). What i should buy, they said, is a "real adapter", and a real one should be a more heavy one (you may notice that the default adapter is light-weighted). Thanks for their help i even got a model number of a particular brand, i brought it (HK$69), called Super S-1200R Regulated AC-DC adapter, connected to the soundcard, wow, the sound is better! more lively, human voice a bit more sweet, sound image more concrete, dynamics a bit better, treble range more natural, bass range's just about the same, i think it's about 20% increase in sound quality... anyone could tell me why it is better?
