@Miska for Emm Labs FPGA would you consider feeding the DAC with up-sampled Redbook in PCM or already converted to DSD as DoP? Also, is 20 bit the most accurate choice for DAC bits option in the settings? I'm using Msync as oversampling filter both PCM and DSD.

Thanks! Yes, even when the driver is fully uninstalled and running WASAPI in PCM. I always have to match the rate in the Windows driver to avoid the DAC dropping the USB path because not in sync.

It should, but I am running with the same issue even under WASAPI. And yes, when this DAC was in the main system with the Ultrarendu (Linux) worked great.

Hi Jussi, thanks for the new follow-up. Last night I did more testing on different machines and I am positive now the issue is not related to any of the HQP version, but rather in the poor protocol between the last releases of Win10 and the obsolete LHLabs USB driver. What I did not realized is that the sample rate does not update on the DAC anymore and I have to manually do so in the Windows driver every time to match the one in the music file. Having changed my habit from keeping the original format rather than converting everything into DSD, put me in wrong spot and made the wrong assumption it was software related (although works fine in JR with the wrong rate). I have no hope for a new driver from LHLabs, practically a defunct entity, so I will have this is mind for the future. All the best.

Still wondering though HQPv3 was ok for years. Had 4 cables tested Venom, Tellurium, AQ and standard 2.0 USB High-Speed, all with same result. Case is fanless Streacom 8 on 165W PICO PSU. Anyway, will migrate JCat USB PCI into this build as well, so I would like to assume it will be enough isolated at that point.

@Miska A quick follow up: not having a single issue in the last week using a MS Surface (albeit with no up-sampling), I am now inclined to think the occurrence is hardware dependent on the PC side. Will update the mini-ITX mobo and in the process upgrade the CPU and possibly be able to enjoy HQP back again in V.4.

Thanks. I use, promote and support HQP since 2013. Not a big deal I will just revert to v3.

Appreciate taking the time. The issue is with this specific DAC only since HQP v4. As mentioned I tried them all before reaching out including cables, port is dedicated gigabyte AMP-UP, same rate available from DAC: JRiver works, HQP get out of sync in a matter of few minutes. Since there's nothing you can do, will manage myself in an other way.

@Miska I have to post here since I did not received a reply via the official support. Please let me know if you have a solution, otherwise I would kindly ask for a refund for the license of v. 4 and I will revert back to v. 3. As mentioned and shown in the original email there is no way to find a log. All the best. (…) All the sudden, or maybe since I purchased the 4.0 license, I am having issues with the LHLabs Vi DAC connected directly into the PC via USB. To my understanding after few minutes playing the lock is discontinued and HQPlayer is not able to communicate with the DAC to relock at the proper sample rate both using PCM and direct SDM and both via WASAPI and ASIO. At the beginning it was random, and I start blaming HQ Player settings, the PC (last WIN10 now) audio settings, the USB cable, the DAC itself, but all works fine if I use JRiver only. I also tried with or without a library in place with the same result. Now it's getting more than annoying, because I cannot listen for any longer that 3 or 4 minutes before I am disconnected and I need to reboot DAC (with tubes!) and HQPlayer only to get the same result few minutes later. I use this DAC with your software for a very long time, so it reasonable to think there is a bug somewhere and that's why I am reporting the issue. (…)
  10. @PAR So from your experience the Melco sounds better than a well built pc on AO + HQ Player with dedicated ethernet card as a server feeding the bridge?
  11. Thank you all for the replies! I'm overwhelmed I enquired SMSL at the time and they say min 2A. They have their own LPS for another DAC, but with not enough juice and they do not recommend it. I'm aware of the Sbooster, but I thought is a lot of $, but if you know it's miles better than a battery pack or a Teradak I will bite the bullet. BTW, I had ifi Micro DSD, Teac 503 and 301 before and I dont miss any of them. The M9 drives the Aeon flawless in dual mono with the balanced output. For a second I though to sell it for the new iFi Pro, but it's not worth for the little use I have. I prefer speakers over headphones as a musical experience. Agree! I was aware of the review and considering what they say about the AQ Jitterbug... well we do hear different.
  12. I own a SMSL M9 as my desktop headphone amp/DAC and I would like to find a better power solution. Should I go with a battery pack or teradak LPS or...

I am aware Pink Faun it's in the work, but not coming soon. Will definitely reach out to Antipodes. Thank you all for the feedback

So Antipodes EX will work as an Ethernet end point running just HQPlayer from any PC or it requires the CX server to work?
