  1. I like Ciamara, which is downtown in the Wall Street vicinity. You need to set up an appointment to go, since it was in the owner's apartment when I visited there myself about 10 months ago. But the owner Sanjay carries a pretty wide array of digital source components, and is now carrying a few lines of speakers. Ciamara has a very generous demo/trial policy compared to other dealers, so that would be my first stop. On A Higher Note would be a good choice if you are interested in speakers, especially Vivid, which I like. Sound by Singer is a shadow of its former self and was never all that customer-friendly. Innovative Audio Video is now similar to Sound by Singer in its heyday, in that it carries quite a few "status" audio brands (Wilson). The salespeople are reasonably nice. Wes Bender in Brooklyn carries some interesting brands, as does the Audio Doctor in Jersey City. But to get to either, you need to take mass transit.
