  1. Hi, I purchased the USBridge Signature with an aim to use it with a new dac. However I prefer my old DAC, which only supports ISynchronous usb. So just wondering if it’s worth changing to an Digione Signature, given that the reported Jitter is below 400 vs. 660 on the USBridge? For reference the rejected DAC is Ares II and the preferred one is then original Rega DAC. Best
  2. Hi, Currently streaming using an Allo USBridge Signature (with Allo Shanti LPS) connected to my Rega DAC/Denafrips Ares II via USB. Looking to switch to SP/DIF interface and had planned on adding Allo’s Digione Signature HAT. Along comes the Matrix Audio X-spdif 2 (which also has the advantage of an I2S interface should I ever get around to upgrading my DAC..). Does anyone have a take on the relative performance of each and which one to go for (based on coax performance primarily)? The USBridge signature should provide clean power, but the Shanti LPS also has an extra 5v output. Cheers P.S. I favor full bodied, organic, warm and musical. (anyone who believes everything sounds the same, please don’t waste your breath on me 😄)
  3. Hi Warp2600, After a bit of back and forth, I'm lacking a reply from Allo at this point. My equipment is in a cuppard (that is open towards the back wall), so in practice I don't hear the hum. I'm no electrical engineer, but I don't imagine using the grouding poses would eliviate mechnical transfomer hum. FFIW I bought the Shanti used (but still under warranty) and the previous user claimed to have had no hum issues with it. So maybe there is a component of local conditions/voltage variance. In my rig it's is behind a DC blocker from Supra, whice obviously does not stop it from humming :-) Cheers
  4. Thanks form the input PYC44V! I should clarify that the hum comes from the PSU itself, so my money is on transformer hum. Seems to be a not uncommon problem people encounter with the Shanti. Also please note that I have a Supra DC blocker upstream.
  5. Hi, I have bought a 2. hand Shanti PSU and unfortunately it hums/buzzes. It was originally purchased at Allo.com and is still under the 1 year manufactures warranty (well for another 10 days :-) ). I’m using it with USBridge Signature. Hoping that you can help me out! Cheers
  6. Update (for the benefit for anyone else hitting similar issue): Fix was to use one of the front USB ports, which has slightly more power, that the Ares II seems to need. According to Allo all the USB ports are "clean" and can be for DAC connection. Thanks to @Audio_Allo for the help and sorting out the issue!
  7. Hi, I just acquired a USBridge and a Denafrips Ares II DAC. However using Ropiee and Volumio, the Ares II does not show up as an output in either (with the Ares set to usb input and 44.1 lit up on it’s front panel). I’ve tried two separate usb cables. Also tried connecting my Rega DAC (gen 1. isynchronus) which just works, as does using the Ares II with a windows laptop. Brand new to this, so not sure what to expect. I did find several people mentioning using the Ares II with the USBridge sig. Any pointers would be great! I can spin up a terminal and do some shh, but not a Linux wiz! ;-) Images are just the latest from Ropiee and Volumio (I don’t have any of the supplied cards from Allo).
  8. I read up on XMOS USB and this seems to be compatible. I'm going to go for it (The new Rega Dac-R that is :-) )
  9. Yes, I'm looking at building the cheapest options and not worrying about SOtM card or Audiophile PSU. As I read the articles on the builds, Chris reported that he did not hear any difference between the builds, when using a DAC that had proper USB isolation. I'm hoping that the iFi iUsbPower will provide this isolation, but I'm not sure I'm aware of all parameters involved with USB in Audio?! Thanks
  10. Hi, I'm considering moving from Squeezebox Touch, with Enhanced Digital Out Mod, to a CAPS v. 3. Looking at the builds, power seems to be at the heart of things. Since I already own the iFi iUSBPower (which cuts the power from the USB coming from the source and inserts a new one), I'm wondering if I should not simply build the cheapest of the 3? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks, Sune
  11. Hello, my first post here. Has anyone tried using the Rega Saturn-R, with Squeezebox Touch Enhanced Digital Output? Did you get ASync USB working? Thanks, Sune
