  1. you can add a 1TB drive to an iPod (old models) that's something already!
  2. Very interesting! is the noise for DoP through I2S issue (using the advanced kernel) on the fixed issues list? Great to see support for the Piano, do we use the same settings for the Kali reclocker board?
  3. I wonder why the ethernet port on modern devices is not swappable optic/copper like on some pro router or switches (SFP modules) that would allow optic connection without the mess of two units acting as bridge, for those who want it...
  4. I am connecting through a hdmi I2S output module from audio-gd, soldered with a very short connector to the GPIO ports of the Pi the hdmi cable I use from that output module to the dac is 50cm long I used the same setup with picoreplayer and didn't hear that background noise on DSD64 (but DSD128 is not enabled on that release) I'll try re-sampling, would the resampling affect DOP? I use fix volume at 100% could the volume control still affect the unit? Regards, Charles
  5. Hello, Playing DSD on raspberry pi 2 with MoOde 3.1 and LMS server (through squeezelite renderer), through I2S output into a PS Audio Directstream dac. I can hear background noise, in DSD64 and DSD128 with default buffers there was a bit of stuttering with DSD128, I doubled the values and the stutterring went away. This background noise is not on the tracks themselves that I am used to listening to through USB output. I can hear very faint background noise with PCM 16/44, so faint it might belong to the record itself. Just reporting.
  6. Hello Tim, That was with V3.0 I now tested V3.1 and can report all is working well with Squeezelite including DSD128 via I2S. Thanks! Charles
  7. Hello, I am trying Moode as a Logitech LMS renderer on a Pi 2 I activated the squeezelite renderer and it appeared briefly as a client on the player list displayed by server properties But it never appeared in the list of renderers from any interface (web interface of the server or mobile app) now it doesn't even appear in the player list of the server propoerties anymore Is there something specific to do to enable it properly? Do the default settings need to be changed? thanks in advance for the help! regards, Charles
  8. It all depends on how well your DAC combines with your amp. I tried to get rid of the preamp in my setup since my DAC has very good volume control (PS Audio Directstream) but the output of the DS being passive (transformers) I was lacking a bit of punch. I saw that when I introduced a home cinema preamp for a test. So I went into bying a really good preamp and really like it better! You can't be sure without trying...
  9. I recently discovered the tag "Ensemble" and "Conductor" that I use for the orchestra and conductor, this leaves choice between artist and album artist for the different soloists...
  10. PS Audio is doing a sale on their dectet model, 250 instead of 499, until 31st dec, above your budget but if you were hesitating on this before now might be the time ;o)
  11. it works again! after restarting the router, which also acts as DHCP like most home routers, the sms-100 got a new IP address and then the http interface was available.
  12. After tests the unit powers up correctly and gets an IP address you can check your IP address with mySonicorbiter , maybe it changed... In my case after that the services don't come up but I get an rlogin prompt. I've requested help I'll see what we can do!
  13. My sms-100 does not appear on the network anymore either, although I haven't tried 50 times to check if it eventually did! I left it in storage for a while (one month) and when I wanted to demo it to sell it it wasn't working anymore. I wanted to open the box check the control lights inside, haven't taken the time to do so yet.
  14. ilok, your feelings and observations towards this DAC surprise me as I'm very happy with it, upgrading from a Mytek 192 DSD. It did have a couple of surprises though, that made me re-think my setup a bit. I did have to change my preamp, since my past stereo preamp (Emotiva XSP-1) didn't do it any justice. I hooked it on my home theatre preamp to see if there would be a difference (Emotiva XMC-1) and there was! I had much more dynamics and better bass. I imagined that it was the chaining of 2 elements with "passive" outputs that would cause my disappointment, and went to another stereo preamp with active output (my current pass labs XP20). I'm now very happy with it. I also played with the volume control to bypass any preamp, had to activate 20dB attenuator ("filter") in order not to hear any hiss on my speakers. These tweaks can be unsettling for someone used to a simpler setup (I understood you used an integrated HT amp) and not possible at all to replicate in your configuration. It might be the reason why you never enjoyed your DS. You might also like or be used to the signature of the TI chip in your amp. Did you use a "Direct mode" or equivalent on your amp to listen to the DS? Because any re-digitizing for audissey or dolby X processing by the internal chip of your amp might harm the analog sound as decoded by the DS... I don't know how you reclocked your signal using what Mutec equipement but jitter hasn't been an issue in my system, and I'm using the I2S output straight out of a Rasbperry Pi... There are many reasons why the DS could have not worked in your system, but I'm not convinced PSA deserves the bashing you give them for it!
