  1. So does that mean the computer has to be on for it (Roon) to work. I am streaming from my NAS right now, without computer on just my network.
  2. Thanks Em2016 and realhifi for your help, it clears the clouds a little for me. Yes. I am using the Node 2, but not thru its DAC, and so far BluOS leaves me wanting, so I will probably try the Roon 2 week trial. I read something about Roon Core, what is that? Bill
  3. I have returned to CA from a short (2year) hiatus, and have a question about Roon. I have just read that Roon has been implemented on the Node2, in the past I have totally ignored the whole Roon world because of my lack of electronics associated with Roon and cost. In the past I have read all the positive reviews and now would like to know EXACTLY how Roon works ie: would it be a diffrent player (Roon) or would it use the Node2 player? Is it an upgrade to the sound of the Node2? Anything and everything you can tell me. I wirelessly, stream from my NAS to the Node. Anything you can tell me about Roon would be a big help before I pull the trigger on Roon. It's good to be back, thanks, Bill
  4. I am in Florida USA. Does anyone know if an upgraded PS will upgrade the sound of the DAC?
  5. Hi everyone, haven't posted for quite a while due to alot of family health issues, but here goes: I am using the above listed DAC in my system using the stock wall wart power supply. I have read much info that an upgraded power supply for DACs using wall warts will substantially improve their sound quality. I have searched all over and haven't been able to find any info regarding a upgraded power supply for the DacMagic 100 and I thought that someone here is using this DAC and would have some information about an upgraded power supply. I know you guys are the authority on such things digital. Thanks in advance, Bill.
  6. I have just updated my PC to Windows 7 from XP and I am having problems with both foobar2000 and Songbird players. First with foobar, the problem I am having is that all of the songs of an album are not showing up in the foobar library such as only showing 1,3,4,6,7 etc. The problem I am having with Songbird is that when I play an album songbird plays the first song perfectly all the way thru but when it it is finished, songbird fast forwards thru the next few song and starts playing another song about half way through. Has anybody encountered these problems and if there is a fix. Thanking you in advance for any help you can give me. Bill.
  7. I'm not a Mac user, are there any programs like that for a PC? Thanks, Bill.
  8. Thanks harrypt and goldsdad for your info it was very helpful. Bill.
  9. Thanks Dan, yes I was referring to the AIFF files, so I guess there is no way to turn off the feature of iTunes creating the ITC2 files? Your help is appreciated, Bill.
  10. Is the above a dumb question or doesn't anyone know?
  11. Hi everyone, let me preface the question with my computer info: PC w/ Windows XP Service Pack 3, ripping with dbPoweramp to the iTunes music folder then adding the album folder to the iTunes library and listening with Foobar2000 w/asio4all. I had initially ripped my entire library (approx 700GB) with iTunes to wav files and after some deliberation I decided to buy dbPoweramp and rerip the entire library to aiff files for better meta data. When I originally ripped with iTunes to Wav I used the "get album info" to get the album artwork into iTunes. It picked up about 75% of the artwork and they now reside in the iTunes folder under "album Artwork" as itc2 files. My question is: do the itc2 files contain anything more than the album artwork and will erasing the folder from iTunes folder adversely affect my library ripped with dbPoweramp? and is there a way to turn off the feature of iTunes getting the album artwork from gracenotes? Another question I have: I see the artwork in the album folder, but is the rest of the data contained in the song folder? I know these are probably dumb questions but I didn't know where else to ask. Thanking you in advance, Bill.
  12. I found that option in ripper and have tried it both ways checked and unchecked and same problem both ways. There is no option like that in writer. The real problem I am having is in writer where when the disk is finished being written to, it keeps spinning and drawer won't open. Using ripper the disk does stop spinning and I can open the draw mechanically using the small hole and a sharp object. Thanks for your help. Bill
  13. I just checked and in the Windows version there isn't an "options" tab to open. Still stumped. Bill.
