    I ripped a CD using itunes, dbpoweramp , foobar and EAC. I compared them using a binary file comparison utillity. they were the same - apart from the header that doesn't matter. dbpoweramp puts something in it the others dont. the data blocks (music) were identical dib

    Hi, I had one of these lying about and I put it on my laptop, with ASIO4ALL as the output and it worked pretty good with the ADM9.1s. I only listened to a couple of songs and to be honest I couldnt really tell any difference between that and my squeezebox. One would hope that the data it gets on the USB connection , gets sent on to the speakers without any data corruption. I was using the asio4all driver but I see this one has a new asio driver that may be worth trying as well. The unit has a DAC in it as well as being able to drive headphones!, but I would ignore all this stuff. Behringer are a pro audio supplier who can produce units like this as they are all made in China. For 30 USD worth a try I think. dib http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx

    A2's are a great desktop system. I run them with a USB DAC (EMU 0404), Very nice sound for when I am working, I listen to radioparadise most of the day (192K MP3!), I use the ADM 9.1 for my "serious system". I have had them about 3 weeks now, they are outstanding. I have replaced some well respected speakers (Living voice - £5K), amplifiers etc. Also have a load of quite useless cables, that I paid good money for in the shed. So for a desktop system, I think the A2's are great, with an external dac of some sort. I also have a foobar usb dac that also works good with the A2's and a little bit cheaper. I would not recommend the adm 9.1s on a desktop system to be honest.

    I would recommend the EMU 0404. Have had the transit DAC, the fubar and the EMU. I still have the fubar and its great for the money and used in another system, however the EMU is streets ahead IMO. I was thinking of upgrading my squeezebox to a transporter, the EMU uses the same DAC, so I bought that instead. One went for £120 on ebay a few weeks ago.
