  1. I recently upgraded to the Optical Sig Rendu SE and I am wanting to let a friend try my microrendu. Previously he was strictly vinyl but some of his friends have enlightened him to the world of hi-rez digital and streaming. He chose an Aria several years ago to store his music. Does anyone have experience with somehow using an Aria with a microrendu. I would enjoy hearing anyone's ideas. Thank you
  2. Tonight I am sitting here in amazement! I have been burning in the OM and the Optical Sig Rendu SE for 48 hours and tonight I sat down to listen and I am in heaven! The OM and OSigRendu SE are feeding a Chord M scaler and Chord Dave. The music is relaxed and so enjoyable! Previously, I had a microRendu which is really good but this is a great enhancement to my system. There is definitely a little more bass which seems appropriate and not artificial. I am listening to live Robert Cray tonight and you can close your eyes and spatially hear the band members where they should be! Yes, I can close my eyes and I am there! Earlier I was listening to some Sonny Rollins and the clarity was intense as you could hear him purse his lips on the mouthpiece of his saxophone! This is a great addition to my system and I want to thank everyone at Sonore for a job well done! Cheers!
  3. I am using the Blue Jean cable after John's recommendation and very happy. I did find it to be a snug fit as others noted and you need a little force to get it to click in. I haven't had any recognition problems.
  4. My goal was to simplify my life and get away from my iMac/iTunes combo and I have converted to the Sonictransporter AP and microRendu running Roon. I couldn't be happier. I had a few glitches initially and Andrew was able to kindly help me. I have not had any problems running Roon. My music library is 3TB and clearly I have a lot of capacity with the STAP as it has an 8TB capacity. I began my journey looking at music servers and have demoed the Melco, Aurender N100h and the Aurender N10. My favorite in the group was the N10. I am very happy to say that IMO, this setup at least equals the sound quality of the N10. Romaz suggested that I wait for the microRendu before making a decision and was he right! I am feeding this set up into a Chord Dave with a Luxman M700-u amplifier. I have also had the occasional network drop out but I am trying to correct that by using Blue Jean Cat 6 Ethernet cables to the router, router to switch and switch to microRendu. I have a Netgear 8 port switch so I am interested in what others are using for a switch as well
  5. I am considering the sonictransporter/microRendu bundle. My library is currently on an external HD managed by iTunes on Mac mini. I was also thinking about combining this with the Audiophile Vortexbox(minus the USB card) so that I could rip CD's directly to the storage. Anyone thoughts on this combo? Does anyone know if you can transfer files from an external HD or a site like HD tracks to the Audiophile Vortexbox?
  6. I have been trialling the N100H connected to a Devialet 250. My current set up is a Mac mini and external hard drive. I am migrating away from this set up as I am looking for ease of use and improving sonic quality. I have lost hope that Devialet Air will ever work. I have been very pleased with the N100H's ease of use so far and the Conductor app is wonderful. I haven't consistently seen the same sonic quality yet as with my Mac mini and I am changing around some cables to see if that will make a difference. Has anyone compared the N100(H) to the Sonore Signature Rendu? I know the outputs are different but with the micro-Rendu on the horizon, I was wondering if it would be worth waiting a while to trial it given what I have read about the SSR? Thanks
  7. Can anyone expand their thoughts on the optimization of network/switches/ USB cables for the Aurender?
  8. I currently have a Mac mini connected to a Devialet 250 via USB. I am at the very decision of N100(H) vs X100L. I have a demo model of the N100H and have been very pleased. The dealer said that if I went with the N100 or N100H, instead of the X100L, that I would only see the listing of songs/albums in text, on the iPad, if using a NAS instead of the great looking interface that he showed me when playing music from the local drive off of the N100H. I am curious though as I read above about the AMM? It sounds like this allows me to import the metadata and cover art and have this great interface and not just text? Also, could anyone comment more on the optimization of the Aurender and or optimization of a persons network/system for the Aurender? Also, any recommendations on a particular NAS? I have been looking at Synology and QNAP. My current music library is 2.7 TB. Thanks
  9. Any router recommendations? The one that I have currently is a Cisco EA 4500. I have considered the AirPort Extreme. I had a discussion yesterday with a software and network researcher for the Dept. Of Defense drone program and those use ASUS for streaming video and for its data transmission speeds.
  10. Thanks to everyone for their input and Tyler thank you for your excellent explanation. Concerning the iPhone and Sonos not seeing the network, the router sits about 2 feet from the main Sonos units and I can be in the same room and the iPhone May not see my network. If I reboot the router then it can be recognized.
  11. Currently have a Linksys EA4500 router. This is dual band. I am having issues with newly upgraded Devialet and connecting with its AIR function. I know there are multiple possibilities but I have noticed on numerous occassions that my iPhone and Sonos can't find the router(WiFi) and I have to reboot it to get it to work. A local audio company put in the router and they can "schedule me" to come take a look at it. I am a novice and just learned about dual band routers and realized that I am currently only using one band in my house for everything. The audio company never really educated me on this fact. The current router is 2 years old. I am looking to replace it and take control of it so that I don't have to be "scheduled". I want a dual band so I can place the music on its own band. Any recommendations?
  12. I have not tried the wireless function. After using iTunes with the Apple remote and it's instant responsiveness.....the Mind app is that bad in my opinion!
  13. I have an upgraded Devialet 250. Prior to the upgrade I used a Simaudio Moon MIND to stream to the Premier D using an AES/XLR cable. After the upgrade I decided to use a dedicated Mac mini as a server and store my music on an external hard drive. I also connected the 250 and Mac mini directly to the router with Cat7. I connected the external hard drive to the Mac Mini with an Audioquest Carbon USB3 cable. I am experiencing the same white noise/static issues that the PC folks are experiencing on the site. If I use the MIND with the AES/XLR cable then I do not experience any issues at all. I have been in contact with Devialet and in their last communication they thought that upgrading the cables would solve the problem and it didn't. This clearly seems like a Devialet Air issue. I have just emailed them again. I like the simplicity of using iTunes and the Apple remote. The Moon Mind iPad interface just isn't user friendly at all. My Devialet is hanging on a wall on the first floor of my home and the music server is in the basement immediately below it about 25 ft away. This is another reason that the Ethernet option was appealing and also using the AES at this distance was not an issue. This distance is an issue though if I wanted to connect via a USB 3 cable. Is there a bit perfect connector for an AES/XLR to use on a Mac mini? Any thoughts? Thanks
  14. This is an update. I read the Devialet "white papers" and found out that the upgraded Devialets as well as the newer ones merely use iTunes for cataloging and will play the music file "bit perfect". I have set up a mac mini music server and storing the music on a 3TB external harddrive. I am using an iPad with the Apple remote app. The music is streaming through the Ethernet port on the Devialet. The sound through the Magico speakers is amazing. The upgrade on the Devialet was worth it. I have been able to eliminate the Moon Mind. When playing a file, you can toggle the source button on the Devialet hand control to see what resolution it is playing at as it will come up on the screen on the Devialet. Any thoughts on audio quality ethernet cables? I have been in contact with Devialet support and they have responded that it doesn't matter. I currently have the Devialet and Mac mini connected via Ethernet to a Netgear switch. I was thinking of connecting them directly to the router. All the Ethernet cables are Cat6.
  15. I appreciate all of the input and will start with the Minimserver software on the iMac and give it a test. Thank you
