  1. I recently started to use my OPPO 105 as an alternative USB DAC in my desk setup for audio streams from the iMAC. My preferred DAC there is a Chord Mojo. I also have a large collection of DSD audio files (up to DSD 2x). It is there a setting on the OPPO 105 to handle DOP for DSD files (without converting them to FLAC in the process; I use JRiver and Roon as main players for my own content on the iMac). For the Mojo it is no problem. Given that the OPPO 105 has broad support for DSD, SACD, etc, there must be a possibility to handle DOP up to at least DSD(2x). P.S. For a longtime I used a OPPO HA1 as preferred DAC for my desk setup, however, it dead after 10 years of service.
  2. I bought the 2 SACD's with Blomstedt & Staatskapelle. My Japanese is non-existent. Is there any english documentation on the ORT Mastering process and whether it improves over 16/44.1 PCM and what the technical specs are of the original recordings (done by DENON?)
  3. What is the news on new developments on ripping SACD's (like new players capable to use the Sonore software). I use my OPPO105 for a lot of things currently, but one day I will replace it. I am afraid that I have keep the OPPO 105 solely for purpose of ripping new SACD's I buy (like SACD make for Old famous albums from Japan).
  4. Thanks, I solved the problem simply by pressing the CTRL button during the launch of the .jar (not to mix-up with the CMD button). Seems to solve the issue in Catalina
  5. I try to make it work but sacd_extract is refused by terminal.
  6. After upgrading to MACOS Catalina, the java jar ISO2DSD does not load anymore as Apple claims it can not check for malware. Any update in the making? The issue is with the component sacd_extract.
  7. It noticed that MAC OS Catalina 10.15.1 broke the java script from Sonore iso2dsd_gui.jar. MAC refuses to run the .jar as it can not check for malware. Any new of what to do? I use it with my OPPO 105 and it works fine until now.
  8. I ripped our entire SACD library (around 400) with an OPPO 105. Piece of cake (sort of). We are thinking of upgrading to an OPPO 205. Does anyone has experience ripping SACD's with the OPPO 205. Although for now I am done SACD ripping, I want to be sure to able to rip again.
  9. I am struggling with the exclusivity option for the audio device in the Tidal app. I like it when a music app can claim exclusivity of the audio device on my MAC. I use Tidal app on MAC with MacOS High Sierra and OPPO USB DAC. In the case of JRiver, the JRiver app claims exclusivity when playing something and if one stops the music, the exclusivity is given up and other apps can use the audio device / DAC (Youtube, Chrome, Spotify, etc.). In the case of the TIDAL App on MAC, the app gives up the exclusivity automatically when another app/browser uses the audio device when launching the app and the settings in Tidal is set back to not exclusive. I have to check this setting all the time, as this happens often. Moreover, if Tidal has exclusivity it only gives the exclusivity up with closing the app and not when stopping playing the music. That is annoying. Any help to have a "JRiver" like experience with Tidal in the field of exclusivity?
  10. I want to use the equipment in the Netherlands
  11. I am interested to buy a Sony PS3 with suitable firmware in order to start ripping my 400+ SACD collection. I looked at Ebay but I am uncomfortable picking the right version. Anybody to sell a PS3 at reasonable price for European 220V or tips (other than look at Ebay)?
  12. Some time ago, I started to rip music video, i.e. DVD's and Bluray's with concerts, etc. For playback I use JRiver, which I am a longtime user of my audio library. I have two issues. One is navigation and chapter building. Ideally, I want to play my music video like I play my audio album: tracks, etc. On most DVD's and Bluray, the rip results in one (or a few) big files (I use MKV's). The chapter structure (i.e. tracks( is maintained, but none of players I know, like JRiver, make the chapter structure available as a list to choose from. You have to use jump to functions. Question One: How can I navigate these video with JRiver like a play my audio albums? Question 2: Is there is service software, which helps with the lookup and tagging of the video files? None of the service, I have seen only work with audio files.
  13. Thanks for the very interesting article. I have two questions. One is concerning the other Chromecast (i.e. not the audio version). Do you know whether one can use the HDMI out of the chromecast for bit perfect streaming of audio rather than using the (probably) horrible DAC of the Chromecast. How in general is audio handled by the Chromecast? In terms of DLNA functionality in JRiver, I am always confused how JRiver handles the audio path when in DLNA mode. JRiver usually gives no info on how the stream is going (especially in the case of DSD). Is it bitstreamed, converted on the fly to PCM or even worse to MP3. Is it possible in your scenario to stream bitperfect DSD from your home NAS to an iphone (which has an DSD DAC attached to it)? That would be very interesting.
  14. As most of us probably I have all my high res files / CD rips on HDD's and a NAS. My library is slightly less than 2TB. I am looking for a cloud storage to maintain as the master data (files, tags, cover art, etc.). Any suggestions for services to use. I have currently 1TB OneDrive, 1T Google and 2GB Dropbox. Firstly, 1TB seems to be the limit for reasonable price for most services. >1TB is getting expensive. Secondly, I want the cloud to be the master and do not want have all files all the times synced. Thirdly, I am looking for player software on iOS to stream my own hires files. I looked at Liztener but seems limited and relies another storage solutions
  15. I have the same issue. Any suggestions for DSD256 support on a MAC. I know that Exasound has prop drivers for MAC. I am not aware of other manufacturer
