  1. Hi, The old laptop that I was using as media center died. The setup was modest: AMD processor from ~2011 8 gig ram external hard drive 3tb connected with usb 2.0 Software: Ubuntu Linux + clementine DAC: HiFimeDIY Sabre USB DAC ES9023 96kHz/24bit Music: a collection of FLAC files + radio (ICI Radio-Canada Première | Émissions, horaire, fréquences radio) I will be able to rescue to external hard drive and the usb dac at least. I am looking for a cheap replacement, so I am interested in best bang for buck up to 300$, but it can be really cheaper. I am looking at raspberry pi with hifiberry. A bundle with case and power supply is around 150$. I am wondering with that price range, or a bit more, if I could get better sound (post dac). I am open for other options (both software and hardware). I would also like to still be able to connect to my usual internet radio station (see link above). I have a bunch of XSPF playlist that I would like to keep and use without modification. On a side note, that laptop was also my backup server for other usb drive, the printer server. If I use volumio, or similar software, will I be able to still perform those tasks? I am looking forward to your suggestions. Best regards,
  2. Hi, I have a paid dbpoweramp R15 family pack. I am running at the limit of computer (5). I am replacing a computer of the lot. How do I proceed to remove and deregister dbpoweramp from one computer and register it on another one? The transfer is permanent. I will get rid of the old computer. Best regards,
  3. I was more talking about the gap between the songs (different standard between classic and live show compared to pop songs). Best regards,
  4. Thank you all for your answers. 1. What is the difference in speed between the burst mode and the secure mode (e.g. double the time)? 2. Pretty much all my cd are in pristine condition, so if I go for burst mode, how would "errors" sound (clip, silence, noise)? 3. Is here any option to keep the silent time between track. Pop songs usually have a silence between two track, whereas classical music concert don't. How do I preserve that? Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the info. If time is a bigger constrain for me right now, should I avoid any compression? How much time can I save that way? Is it possible (and easy) to compress it later from FLAC (uncompress) to FLAC (compression 5-6)? I don't have access to any i7, I have an i5 and a recent budget AMD processor (obviously on different computers). What time can I expect in performance (drop from 3 minutes to 10 minutes, or 3 to 4 minutes)? Best regards,
  6. Roughly speaking how long is it to rip a cd with dppoweramp - fast mode - secure mode Will dbpoweramp be able to simultaneously read 2 cd from two drive (internal + usb)? Any advise on doing it right the fist time? I want to encode in flac. Thanks for the help
  7. Hi, I have to rip my cd collection in a short amount of time. I have less than 1000 disk, but still in the 3 digits. I would like to preserve the cd quality. I am currently thinking of using FLAC. Can you suggest a software that would allow me to do it fast. What is a good benchmark for ripping speed (e.g. 3 minutes per cd). Here is the material that I have access 1 linux laptop with dvd-rw 1 windows laptop with dvd-rw 1 external usb dvd-rw How would you proceed (which software, where to plug the external dvd-rw)? N.B. I have a lot of classical, maybe you know a good database with a classical library (EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, etc. )
