  1. Matching/expensive case work was what I thought I was paying for when I decided to get the Ariea G2 (replacing Aries Femto) to go with my Vega G2, but to my surprise, it actually does provide very noticeable improvement.
  2. Hi HookEm, Yes, I connected both Aries to the Vega G2 at the same time (HDMI and USB). I use the Lightning app to switch between input devices and DAC's inputs. I have not compared the Aries G2 against Vega G2's internal streamer over ethernet input, but based on my previous experience with the Aries Femto, wifi already sounded better than ethernet in that thing, so I have decided to just go with wifi.
  3. Hi guys, I ended up getting the Aries G2 to go along with the Vega G2 that I got earlier. I AB tested the Aries G2 against the old Aries Femto, both connected to the Vega G2 (one with HDMI and one with USB) and playing audio files off my Synology NAS via wifi. To my surprise, Aries G2 shows marked improvement over the old Aries in the following areas based on my initial impression: - Bass extension/tightness is most evident - Spacing/separation (easily identifiable where each instrument/performer is) - Clarity also improved...perhaps due to darker/cleaner background The old Aries has now been moved to my HP rig.
  4. Hi guys, thanks for your feedbacks! I received my Vega G2 last week, which I am quite impressed with its performance in my system over my old Vega, and was considering getting the new Aries to go along with it. Even though I plan to use the "Lightning Link" to connect the two, I think I will still wait until Auralic resolve this before I consider it...
  5. Louis, thank you for the thread link. Seems like my dealer is making the same statement about the new combo as Mr. Wang....I just don’t quite understand how/why upgrading the Aries will improve sound given his comment at 2:42 in the following video:
  6. Hi guys, I am a current Vega/Aries owner and am very interested in what improvements are made to the G2 components. My local dealer (a new dealer who just started carrying Auralic products) and I did an AB comparison between Vega G2 and my Vega (the dealer actual does not carry original Vega). We used all the same equipments (no Aries is used though) just switching the USB and analogue cables between the two DACs. IMHO, Vega G2 is a big step up from the original. I was quite shocked by the following differences that I was able to easily observed during the test: - Overall: I have never found the Vega to lack in livliness/dimensionality, but in direct comparison to the G2, it just sounded flat. - Soundstage: G2 definitely went wider and deeper, more dimensional presentation. - Separation: inatruments’ separation are clearer with the G2 and each instrument seem to be more defined. I have put in my order for the Vega G2 right after the test, that’s how big of a diff there is. BTW, my dealer said that demand is much higher than Auralic’s ability to produce and it will the end of the year before I can get my unit. As for Aries G2, my dealer told me the new DAC sounds even better with the new Aries, but I am still having doubts about how the new Aries achieves that. I saw on YouTube that Mr. Wang commented about how new Vega’s design (galvanic isolation and buffering) will produce same quality output regardless of source....then what’s the point of upgrading Aries? Maybe I misunderstood the comments...can someone please educate me on this? I guess I will bring in my Aries/Vega combo to test against the G2 combo next time....will report back.
  7. Hi guys, thank you very much for your inputs, they are very helpful! I currently have the Aries/Vega combo for my speaker system and will get the Yggy as a second DAC. Eventually, one of them will be move to my headphone rig. Thanks again for your assistance!
  8. I understand that Yggy is PCM only, but read it somewhere that Aries is able to do the conversion, couldn't find the post anymore. Just want to check if anyone has experience, thanks!
  9. Hi guys, about to get my Yggy but hoping to confirm the following: - Does Yggy work with Auralic Aries? - 25% of my music library is made up of DSD files, will I be able to play them through Aries + Yggy? Thanks for your assistance!
  10. After going through Petrus' previous post, I followed a tip by Dr.sah and replaced SMB path with the NAS' IP address instead, now the Lightning server is working like a charm!
  11. Thanks for your help, I will submit a ticket to Auralic tonight if I am unable to figure things out by then. Funny thing is that Minimserver works fine, which means the Aires is connected to my network/NAS fine....weired!
