  1. Not sure myself, but probably due to the inability to produce the LF sound at the same level of loudness (for the sake of originalities) and characteristic compared to doing it with a Class A speaker with extreme LF capabilities? I've been hearing this recommendation from a few local audio hardware stores that audiophile that wants to reproduce a near-perfect sound (as near as the one we originally hear from the live performance) should stick with 2.0 and single volume meter.
  2. Yeah that seems to be a problem, I'm located outside the state and I've reached out to several local stores yesterday and none of them had vanatoo's products. I was hoping to get down to 30 Hz, but frankly speaking I was able to give up that LF when choosing LS50 due to how beautiful the instruments sounds on it. So the 49 Hz might be acceptable as well considering how low the price and it is of comparable qualities with the LS50 EDIT: I am thinking of adding a subwoofer in the future to lowpass that few Hz I'm missing. Although 2.1 is generally not advisable, that might be the only choice or else I should increase my budget tenfolds..
  3. Hi wgscott! Sorry I read your blog post earlier but I honestly miss the 49 Hz part. After re-reading it, it makes much more senses now.
  4. A reasonable match with 1/3 from it's price = what a steal! I'm definitely looking forward to hear from T1. I'm having a hard time searching for Vanatoo T1's frequency range. On their own website, the technical detail links are dead. Anyone had any idea if the T1 could reproduce the extreme LF? This is somewhat a requirement since I often heard orchestral musics.
  5. Thanks for the advice, I haven't had the pleasure to hear from vanatoo's, it is added to the list I need to hear next time I'm on the store! At the meantime my best experience on entry level range is on KEF LS50, so it's still my best candidates. How do you think the vanatoo's transparent one sound compared to KEF LS50?
  6. Hi ecwl, thank you for the advise! I have heard about the nova125SE, but I wonder how well it sounded compared to a combination of Musical Fidelity V90-DAC ($299) + Creek Evolution 50A ($1200), they costs exactly same. Tech-wise the nova125SE can take 192/24 USB input which is better, but from what I heard those V90-DAC is a god-send for entry level audiophile. Thanks again for the input, it's really appreciated!
  7. Hello, I would like to ask for advice for a new setup I am currently planning to deploy on my PC. My current setup is: JRiver MC 19 -> Asus Xonar Essence STX (ASIO) -> AudioEngine 5+ I have been planning to upgrade for quite a while, and right now seems to be the right time. The budget is $3000. I am thinking of bypassing the sound card altogether and go with a DAC with LS KEF50 speaker which costs me around $1500, so: JRiver MC 19 -> [DAC - don't know which one to choose, yet] -> LS KEF50 The question is, is this kind of setup recommended for me, or should I just keep using the sound card and add an amplifier? If the DAC way is recommended, could you recommend me a good DAC? Choosing a DAC is exemplary hard here in my local stores, because unlike speaker, we do not get a live test on DAC product, so we could not really experience the quality before buying. Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am building a 2.0 system, used mainly for hearing hi-fi musics (96/192/384 Khz - 24 bit classical, pop and jazz albums), and sometimes watching bluray movie with 5.1 output rebalanced to 2.0. My primary requirement is musical audio qualities.
