  2. Since the yahoo groups are closing. 🙂 new acourate forum
  3. I'm have been running Fidelizer pro with JRiver MC22 the last week and have experienced some remarcable updates. I don't know what you are doing but please keep up the good work, you are doing great. Now a question, would it be a problem to run both JRiver and Acourate convolver at the same time ? How do I do that, can I choose two applications to autostart in Fidelizer (as with MC22) or do I have to set the convolver to autostart separately ?
  4. Yes I know, I have been fiddling around with it enough to realise that I will run out of taps to soon using dsp's.
  5. Hello again. I'm still learning here (I think). I have joined the Acourate Yahoo group and I will try to find out more over there since there is not that much writen here (besides two articles I found that looked promissing). Regardless of any objections you might have to what Dirac is doing I will certanly try it out, no reason not to. Not right away though since there are a few other (non hifi) projects that need some attention first. Have to keep the Mrs happy to :-)
  6. Well I'm looking at that as well. I also saw the video of Bob Katz and even if I have a lot of respect for his work the segment is over a year old and his impression is most likely even older so..... Lets for sake of argument say that his opinion is 2 years old, has Dirac developed over this time to the extent that he should try it again ? There is another a problem for me to use Acourate for crossover duties. I have been looking for some sort of interface that would bring out all channels needed (6) as i2s from the mac mini, my multichannel dac solution is not something I'm ever going to replace with some usb multichannel soundcard. Minidsp has something called the "usb streamer" that might work so I will look in to that. The no trial idea ??? The main idea for me with Dirac is to achive linear phase and an improved impulse response, the frequency response is already quite good. We can leave "Acourate" out of this thread, there is another place for that.
  7. Ok so fuzzmeasure does work, good to know. If I would destroy a tweeter I would "just" replace it, (i make my own) sorry for yours anyway. It seems that the simulations are fairly dependable at least :-)
  8. Some questions: I have a 3-way stereo system today (and for the foreseeable future) using a "Najda" dsp (iir) for preamp, crossover, time alignment and dipole roll-of compensation. Main audio source is Audirvana 3.0 on a Mac Mini (mid 2011) 2,3G i5 8GB. Spotify is sometimes used as well. I have ordered the Umik-1. As I see it I'm all set for hardware now. I'm reading about a Dirac plugin for AU that for some reason is "better", have I understood this correcly or am I drawing the wrong conlusions ? If I'm not misstaken it doesn't exist yet ? It seems that it's a bit of a hazzle to take measurements after the fact, so I'm wondering if "Fuzzmeasure" would see "Dirac" as an output device and then make verificational measurments possible ? It's not that expensive and looks promising enough. Is it possible that there will be some problems with latency during measurments due to the dual dsp systems ? I have no idea how much latency there is trough the "Najda" dsp. The room and setup:
  9. That was my first impression but I have changed it some. A reference for me comes from "Yello-touch", the track "Petro Oleum" has a vibrating decay eminating from the bass drum, it feels like a wave of low frequency on (or under) the floorboards starting at the speakers and settling under the sofa I'm sitting in. Quite spectacular when it works. I haven't a-b compared it but for me the amplitude is there and it's as I hear it a bit "cleaner" then before. Someone with more time to spare might try it out though. The album is a lot of fun anyhow.
  10. It's a 6 foot neodymium ribbon driver 300-20khz :-)
  11. No, I'm not so.... Edit: I'm trying to get rid of the dual avatars, done :-)
  12. Thanks for the input. To stay on topic I will ask more Dirac etc questions in the proper forum. On topic would be a question for Damien though. Is there any plan to add a convolver engine to the software ?
  13. I already have the eq functions in the dsp-xo, what I'm after is impulse and phase response compensation. The frequency response in this room is actually quite good without any eq directed at the room response. I'm only using these functions for dipole roll of compensation. If I'm reading it right Dirac would work right away or ? Only thing missing would be the measuring microphone. I'm running a Mac mini and AU 3.0
