Except to say that's it's merely a dogmatic device intended to distract the recipient from the fact that the person speaking has absolulely no proof / evidence whatsoever, suggesting instead they are an "authority by association" and thus deserving of special treatment whereby any demands for evidence or proof can and should be waived. There's a difference between opinion and scientific / mathematical "fact". When 1+1=2 becomes an opinion like any other, such as "This song reminds me of the breeze blowing through my upstairs window", then we're in trouble. There was a time when everything was opinion, and the world was full of mysteries which were subject to highly subjective opinions and judgements - it was called the Dark Ages. All Krabapple is asking for is proof that 1+1 does NOT equal 2. Either prove him wrong with ABX test results or be honest about where you are. There's nothing inherently wrong with living in the dark ages (a world of superstition and mythology) - but there is something very wrong with doing so while pretending you're not. Izzznet.
