  1. Will let you know if I find out, thanks for the sleuthing...... Got a response from J Darko, It's under reconstruction and when it comes back it will be Patreon-only.
  2. Will let you know if I find out, thanks for the sleuthing......
  3. Not to be difficult.... I dont twitter or facebook ..... thanks for the suggestion though.
  4. unless I missed a direct email on his site.....how does one reach him?
  5. I will check the Darko Dac Index from time to time as well as his rankings on music streamers..... when I went there in the last month, it was password protected. Does anyone know how I access the page? Or has a copy of the entire web page for Streamer rankings? https://darko.audio/the-darko-dac-index/
  6. Is it me or am I missing something. W4S implements an improvement in our DAC, This thread has typically had contributors who elaborate on their audible experiences with the Dac in general. The new implementation has an issue with a particular I2S unit (Singxer) and the thread takes a direction which spends so much time complaining about their Singxer implementation that it taints the name of W4S . I was hoping that those that had the upgrade chip would be more thorough on their audible description of the new chip, instead the general description seems to be "a big improvement", but no real description which can be described in great detail. For those using the I2S implementation, you cannot really say that the chip contributed solely to the improvement in sound since there does not seem to be a comparison of the chip addition before and after implementation separate from the I2S addition. . The improvement may be solely due to the I2S implementation rather than just the chip. is there anyone out there that ONLY made the chip change without adding any additional new hardware ? You cant make two changes and attribute the change in sound to either the chip or I2S , its the combination of the two. Thank you W4S for your efforts to upgrade your Dac, too bad its introduction has been tainted by the I2S issue. Most of us are not using I2S. So, is there anyone out there NOT using I2S that can elaborate in a detailed manner on the before and after experience of having the chip upgraded. ?
  7. What happened to the originator of this topic. Is Richard no longer moderating this thread? What he did well was keep keep the topic limited to listening impressions rather than the now limitless complaints of I2S OTHER equipment that is not working well with this latest upgrade from Wyred. Most of us want to hear what you think of the latest upgrade and its comparison prior to the upgrade, If Richard was here, he would have had you start another thread on the topic of "I2S compatibility with the Wyred Dac....."come back Richard !!! ". Just my opinion.
  8. I can understand your frustration, however, how many companies have you ever called and been able to talk with the chief figure ? I have several W4S components and they do what they are supposed to do. i have also met EJ at the Newport audio show . I called him with a few questions on my previous dac upgrade. Look......, early adopters usually have growing pains and that is whats going on here. EJ is a stand up guy and patience is necessary to get every variation being requested to adapt to the new Dac configuration. Wish you well with your new dac. they will take care of you.
  9. Yes this is an older thread , but, looks like I am headed toward getting hearing aids... can you share what worked for you or you recommend?
  10. Just something to ponder. one factor that I used to pull the trigger on the Dac2 DSDse was this review PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream DAC This is a review of the PS Audio DS DAC released a while back. I am using some logic here so bare with me. I did not want to spend $6000k plus for a DAC. The PS Audio unit was launched and taken to many venues and was good/great enough to send to production. It was also early on, reviewed by end users that highly praised it......So, I am "assuming" it sounded pretty damn good. The reviewer above compared both the W4S and the PS Audio unit..... He essentially indicated that the W4S unit was very close to the recently released PS audio unit AND , was more musical in several instances.... which tells me that the W4S unit was close to being on par with the PS Audio unit...or pretty darn close....in addition, I am assuming his W4S did not have the femto clock upgrade. The PS Audio folks then sent him a software update and he then indicated that the PS Audio unit surpassed the W4S unit. OK, ...no problem....the $6000 unit is now better than the $2500 unit . By how much ?..... perhaps not enough for me to spend an additional $3500 I realize reviews can only be taken with a grain of salt depending on the reviewers experience and hearing ability and system components Note: I have the W4S Dac2 and was not that impressed with it compared to my "older" DAC, but I am willing to see if the upgrade meets my expectations.
  11. Looking around at forums and reviews... there appear to be better sounding DACs out there...but for multiples of $$ than what the Wyred 4S costs Can anyone recommend a DAC that does a finer job for Redbook playback in the <$3000 price range?? Otherwise....I will pull the trigger on this DAC....thanks for your honest opinions....
