I'm scratching my head too - is there any chance of a software option being selected somewhere? Phase is sometimes denoted by a 'O' with a line through it - Ø on mixing desks/control panels. Also is the issue the same whether listening from PC or the older DAC you mention?

They're really attractive - Auralic do some nice stands but with a couple of knobs to wind up and store the cables on, maybe these would be a good addition.

The way people relate to music has changed since the phonograph was invented. A new recording was an occasion and people used to dress up as if they were going to a real concert. From an acoustic horn! Now the inverse is true, quality is immeasurably better but music is so easily accessible its worth has been diluted - added quality seems like an irrelevance to the average person when they relate to music like its audible wallpaper. Take all the music away! That's the answer!

I've had a great time with the Hugo and am currently negotiating a price for my grandmother. I had the HiFi M8 at the same time as the Hugo and although it's a very nice class-A amp and a very competent DAC, the Hugo is in another league.
