  1. Thanks for the information. I'll most likely end up buying both special editions on HDTracks when they become available.
  2. Sorry for my ignorance, but does this mean the 1994 CD is more desirable from a DR Peak standpoint? I still want to hear the special edition bonus discs, yet if these are not much of a sonic upgrade... that would be a bummer indeed.
  3. I've heard from two people who downloaded the new box set from dead.net... there are 24/192 flac files in the new box.
  4. I picked up the 24/192 version of Wake Up. It definitely sounds more analog then the redbook version in the box set. I'll have to listen to it again, but my first impression was Phil is a bit louder in the redbook mix compared to the HDTracks version. If your a fan of this Eyes Of The World though, its a no-brainer.
  5. I was a little unsure if I was gonna listen to the new box set much... never really got into the last Spring 90 box that much. But I'm glad I took the plunge, the new box set sounds really spectacular, dare I say the best sounding live shows ever officially released by the Dead. I'm truly enjoying this box set and have been savoring each show a few times before listening to the next. I even went back and ripped the old box so I could compare mixes between the two. The older box seems to have a more narrow sound stage compared with the new. The newer one has all the instruments and vocals nicely separated from each other. The new one also has Jerry's guitar more prominent in the mix which really helps the songs flow better when he's using the clean guitar sound. The old box does sound good, but the new one is just easier to get excited about.
  6. I'm not sure how to read these graphs per say (what is good or not good), but I would think your Frequency Analysis chart would be a good chart, compared to the one wgscott said doesn't look good from up above.
  7. Thanks for posting the picture of the Time Out session... looks like they are really having a great time playing together. Really cool picture. Paul is wailing there in the background!
  8. I'm running the P5 and concur with your observations... consistent sound day after day, pitch black backgrounds, and three dimensions in spades.
  9. Probably not everybody's favorite but DP5, the Dec 26, 1979 show is probably the one I listen to the most. I was very familiar with the show from two nights later, but never heard the DP5 show till it was released officially. Another great show from a great live band.
  10. I'm not really a fan of solo piano, but after listening to the samples, I was pretty impressed by today's daily deal. eClassical - Mussorgsky · Ravel · Balakirev
  11. thanks for the info, I'll check it out
  12. Bump! Anybody know if this is possible?
