  1. You can't have too many versions of this masterpiece. If you are throwing 16 bit into the mix, then do look out for the great Celibidache and, of course, Horenstein. I had the great good fortune to hear Blomstedt conduct the VPO in Salzburg - that was a shattering experience. I really like the Blomstedt recording. The live Karajan recording gets much praise, but it leaves me a little underwhelmed, I have to say.
  2. Blomstedt is available as a SACD and is a mighty fine reading.
  3. I don't know for certain, but I assume it is the same. I certainly wont be buying it again!!
  4. Downloaded it from Qobuz. Extremely disappointed. Harsh trebles that are painful to listen to. Not been able to get more than a few tracks into the album without having to seek relief. Will be sticking to my CD rip.
  5. I'm glad that it was not just me. As soon as I started playing it it felt that something was wrong. Very "trebly", to the extent that I have not been able to get through more than three tracks without switching back to my CD rip. Extremely disappointing.
