  1. Thanks for the replies so far. It might be worth mentioning that Steve Hackett has remade 17 songs from this era and released them as "Genesis Revisited II." He has on his web site what is known as a "24 bit Studio Master FLAC" available for download. I do have a copy but sadly this modern remake is heavily compressed too. Don't get me wrong its a great download and I love listening to it. Its a shame that its been over processed. Access to a flat transfer would be nice. https://store.hackettsongs.com/collections/downloads/products/genesis-revisited-ii-24-bit-studio-master-flac
  2. Does anyone know of a source for some good quality high resolution Genesis recordings? Specifically the albums where Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett were in the band. (Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (post Gabriel but still with Hackett) A Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering.)
  3. I must be one of the "odd men out" because I like it. I don't find it boring at all. Yes, It differs from his other work but that's OK with me. Impressive for a rocker that's rapidly approaching 70 years old.
  4. A quick comment if I may. I'm a big believer in simple signal paths. The fewer amount of components touching my music is best. But its not always possible. If you can get away with no pre-amp, you have enough gain and you like the way that sounds then that's whats best for you. If you have more than one source you can buy or build a passive with a selector switch. There have been a lot of comments regarding the benefits or detriments of using a pre-amp. I wont repeat them but I noticed that one important one was missing. If for some reason your source is far away from your power amp and you have interconnects are on the long side you might benefit from using a pre-amplifier. My advise is to try different combinations and decide what you like using your ears. Sometimes the best solution is not so obvious. Try to keep things simple if you can. -Tom
