  1. Hi I'm installing Gentooplayer on an 8i3 NUC to run Audirvana. Would I be right in thinking I need to use Mode 5 or Mode 5 light for the ramdisk, and if so, what's the difference between them? Also, I'm currently running the default kernel. Is there a better option in this case? Thanks Alan
  2. Do you know which of the common FMCs do use a switch chip? Thanks Alan
  3. I don't remember seeing a reply to this - did I miss it?
  4. Audirvana is a separate layer programme available on Windows and the Mac so it's an alternative to Roon. You can use it either directly connected to a DAC or to another endpoint over DLNA. It has its own internal oversampling options and can't be combined with HQPlayer. There's a free trial available. https://www.audirvana.com.
  5. I've had mine for five days now and there definitely seems to be a burn-in period - straight out of the (very cold) box it was a bit "over-enthusiastic" but it's settled down nicely without losing the speed and slam. I'm using a NAS library and the wired ethernet but my experience mirrors bodiebill's - Internal player > Audirvana > Roon. The user interface of the internal player could use (a lot of) polish but it is functional and sounds excellent. Overall I'm extremely happy with it.
  6. So, not absolutely any recording then.
  7. Sorry - I'd accepted you explanation. I was commenting on the extreme similarity of the UI of the ESS app and the Lumin player, and the fact they both had the same behaviour in this area.
  8. That wasn't what I expected - I 'd have expected it to work fully or not at all. I should have paid more attention to the app store description which said I could use it to browse a music library on a UPnP AV server and play songs on a Lumin network player. Given the good publicity the ap gets it didn't occur to me that I'd need another app if I had a mixed system of Lumin and non-Lumin players.
  9. ...except there apparently isn't a Synology package for the current version of the NAS OS and there are no plans for one at this time.
  10. I thought Minimserver WAS OpenHome/UPNP compatible. I'll give that a try.
  11. Hi I'm looking at buying a T3 soon so I'm giving the Lumin app a try. All looks fine except the play/pause and skip forward and back buttons don't seem to work. This is consistent across MinimServer and Synology Media Server back ends, Raspberry Pi and X86 end points, and Mac, iPad and iPhone controllers. The Clear Playlist button does work. AmiI misunderstanding how this is supposed to function, doing something wrong, or do these buttons only work on an actual Lumin? Thanks Alan
  12. Does it support squeezelite? I couldn't find any reference to it on their site.
