  1. This is awesome, shall be applied to our conference room.
  2. The hobby that has consumed me this summer. The photography guys can talk about the quality of the picture, it was taken from well over 100 feet away, the photographer had a massive lens on his camera. As for me, I'm focused on the line, slip angle, rotating the car, and setting up the next straight.
  3. Mordante - are there any useful purposes for cataloging your collection in Discogs (other than insurance records)? Can you sort your music? Can you quickly find if you have something? And what are the color codes for the little vertical bars next to the album icon (I see red, gold, silver, etc.)? Can you export your Discogs database to a csv or Excel file? Sorry to be asking you to educate me on Discogs but I think a real user can tell me more than what I'm finding online. I have all of my movies catalogued in a database (MyStuff - an Apple app) and I find it useful when looking through used DVDs because I sometimes fforget if I already have something. Of course cataloging video is very easy due to the barcode system. TIA
  4. I use Adjust+, it's most useful with getting azimuth aligned properly. It uses the crosstalk across the channels to dial in a near perfect balance. Of course this is only useful if you have a tone arm that provides azimuth adjustment (most don't).
  5. I actually prefer listening to the flat 6 engine in the rear of my car, sounds awesome above 4K
  6. Doesn't alcohol help with neural jitter?
  7. This has been stated several times and you seem to want to ignore it. YOU need to listen to the music YOU like on YOUR system located in YOUR home and draw you own conclusion. Do you want a sound system that sounds good to you or something you don't understand or necessarily like because 'it was highly rated' (is the goal listening enjoyment or bragging rights). If you search hard you will find dozens of PCM versus DSD threads on CA resulting in hundreds of posts - there will be no consensus. It always comes down to what you like based on what you can afford. Example, while I prefer DSD our CA founder Chris C. prefers PCM through his Berkley BADA DAC, before I can dismiss his preference I have to consider that he is using an $18,000 DAC and that perhaps it does sound better than my Lampizator DSD DAC - but his DAC isn't within my budget. So does that mean PCM is better than DSD? It's all about the implementation that you can afford and the availability and sound of the music you like - don't ever discount the fact that the perfect format doesn't mean squat if you can't find any suitable music to play on it.
  8. You're poking a raccoon with a stick - stop that!
  9. Do you prefer them in DSD or PCM? Oops, sorry, wrong thread
  10. You need at least three to practice your grouping
  11. This introduces an interesting can of worms. So which would you rather have, an accurate representation of the original performance even though it really doesn't sound very good (maybe a bad recording), or that same recording filtered through a magic process (i.e. upsampled through HQPlayer) such that it sounds better? I'm thinking I would take the better sound, regardless if that means it got distorted.
  12. +1 and consider the Lampizator Amber
  13. I'll second the Lynx Hilo, mine has been very steady, reliable and clean. Also, +1 on using 24:96 instead of 192. Can't hear the difference and the files are half the size
  14. I see two tools on the bench, a DMM and a hammer - nice...
