OK now, I've figured out after I change the settings it flows seamlessly from CD drive to USB hard drive. I think I was just overthinking it.

Ugh had to move them out of the recycle bin.

Thanks. I did that. Then I deleted the .ape files and now although I show .flac files showing in the list the player does not see them. Gosh I really want to just drag and drop the CD onto the hard drive and play all of them from there.

Is there a step by step tutorial online? I guess it would if I explain what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to rip my redbook CD directly onto a HD. Right now when I rip the CD I get differing bitrates and they are in .ape format. I have no idea what that means. All I want to do is to download all of it to an external drive.
