New to the thread and this forum. Not sure this is where to post but have to start somewhere. I'd been trolling the forums looking to upgrade from Audioengine D1 and get new DAC, headphone amp and new phones. I'd settled in to several contenders when I chanced on Richard's initial post about the upgrade from DAC2 to DAC2 DSD se. I was convinced and bought in.
I spoke with Clint and got some great feedback after initially e-mailing back and forth. Great customer service. That really sold me.
While I cannot comment on the upgrade vs. the original dac, after burning in for about 10 hours I had to listen and was seriously impressed. As the hours have passed to about 70-80 now I'm hearing a great wealth of new info from the desktop speakers, a pair of Adam A5X. The listening pleasure is grand. I spend too much time in the home office and not enough with my main stereo. This is turning into a wonderful listening room.
I'd like to enquire what kind of headphones and amps someone could suggest to go with the W4S dad. I'm fortunate in that the budget is higher than I'd like. Probably in the 3-4K range. I love the blues and rock and roll and acoustic jazz, not much into fusion. The female voice is also popular in the playlist. I'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
I'd like to share more sonic thoughts when I've had more listening time.
