  1. Happy new year everyone. Just to get back to you: the technician was unable to run the fiber loom to the place I wanted, I had to settle for copper. So be it! I'll try a short run of fiber between a switch with sfp in the listening space and the eR.
  2. Thank you for the advice @davide256, I' lol plug only the switch on the routeur then
  3. @ericuco Thank you for your advice, I'm gonna follow it. ISP box>SFP switch>eR>Streamer 👌
  4. Alright, you're right I'm overcomplicating things, it's good to have an external perspective. I'll get a switch for the audio network with an SFP port in the garage, connect my NUC to it and run fiber to the eR.
  5. Ok got it, thanks. Regarding the Nuc, is it advisable to plug it upstream or into the eR?
  6. @simon_pepper thanks, I've had a look and it doesn't seem possible. Can I think I have to split the network via the box, or install a routeur between the box and the 2 switches. Am I right?
  7. That was my plan originally, until I read that fiber was sometimes to lean. I'm also wondering if an OpticalModule would not be better before the streamer instead of the eR
  8. Hello, I plan to remove the ISP box and its Wifi from my listening space and put it away in the garage. I need to give instructions to the ISP technician and to purchase the needed equipment beforehand. I could really use your opinion! Here is the situation: I want to separate the audio network from the rest; can I use the routeur in my ISP box or should I go for a separate one? I have a Nuc (Roon Rock; I don’t want to use a Nas): is it better to connect it to the switch after the box/routeur or directly to the eR? I need to connect my TV (also in the listening space): is it better to introduce a switch for it before the eR, and having only the streamer connected to it or is the moat sufficient not to bother with an additional switch? The easiest for me would be to use fiber from the garage to the listening space : some have experienced hard sound with fiber. Would going from fiber to copper through the eR or a switch with sfp before the eR reinstore some balance? And eventually 😃 , do I need to bother with LPS for the equipment placed before the run of fiber, if I were to go that route? Many questions I know, but every system is different and I haven’t found opinions on the forum regarding the specifics of my configuration. Thank you
  9. I'm sorry I should have posted this in the networking forum. I'll post there from now on.
  10. As I see it I should use the router in the ISP box and connect one switch for the audio leg, another for the rest. Should I connect the Nuc to this first switch or to the eR just before the streamer?
  11. Yes, I prefer to keep it all wired. Such a switch would work as a router, is that it?

  13. Hello, I need 30 meters of optic fiber. I read Corning is very good but cannot find such lengths, even less in France. What other fibers should I look at? I understood real glass fibers are preferred but the material is rarely specified. Is it hard to terminate the cables by itself when buying fiber by the bulk? Thank you
  14. Hello all, I’m using a Nuc with an external HDD for music storage (powered by USB). This NUC is connected to a switch, not directly to my streamer. I just ordered a fanless case that can accept a 2nd disk. I’ve read opinions about ssd vs hdd but it is usually in the context of a direct connexion to the dac/streamer. In my case, would an external HDD/SSD with its one PSU give a noticeable uptick in SQ compared to an internal disk with SATA? Thank you!
