  1. Yes, He is aware of it and his silence is very disconcerting to me. I will always wonder from here on out if any review posted here has been compensated in some fashion. It would have been so easy to just tag the compensated reviews so that the reader would know that the posted review was not spontaneous even if it was sincere. There was no need to delete them, just be upfront about the poster's motivation. This is a hit to this site's reputation and represents a loss of trust. I want to be clear that this is my personal opinion and that I have made that opinion clear to @Computeraudiophile. I do not wish to offend anyone. Feel free to disagree with me if you wish.
  2. Let it run if you want but get these reviews marked somehow to indicate they were solicited as part of an offer for a free upgrade. Sadly, if that doesn’t happen, both your reputation and the reputation of Audiophile Style (and the other sites this is happening on) will take a permanent hit. This is like watching a circular firing squad in real time. So sad!
  3. The USB ISO Regen is out of production due to pandemic related parts shortages so no need to test it. If you really want to though, I have one I am not using anymore. PM me if you are interested.
  4. I am glad to see that you understand the depth of feeling on this. Now Please do something about it.
  5. I am not justifying confronting those who post the reviews. I am not saying that they should be removed. What I am saying is that a reader who is not aware of the paid nature should be made aware of it in some fashion. It is a matter of basic trust that the information one is reading is impartial. Once a review is paid for that is gone.
  6. The issue here is not that you are charging a nominal fee to cover some of the costs or that is not OTA but via a new SD card. The real issue that has many of us upset is that you are in fact paying for reviews by waiving that fee for those who submit a favorable review. This is such an unnecessary self-inflicted wound. You and Andrew make very good products. I own many of them and I am quite happy with them. Please work with Chris to get all these paid reviews under a single header where it can be made clear to the reader that they are in fact paid for. This is such an unnecessary hit to your reputation. This is my personal opinion but it seems to be shared by many others here.
  7. Exactly! Now we will never be able to trust that the reviews and a lot of other information on this site are accurate and honest or just some paid marketing text. The only way to solve this mess is to label each paid review as such. I am not saying that they should be deleted or banned, just that there should be full disclosure when there is compensation involved in any review.
  8. I agree that when a review is paid for, it should be disclosed. All of these recent Rendu reviews should be consolidated into a single place and made clear that they are paid for. It will make all of us suspicious of future reviews if we don’t know what is paid and what is not. This sets a terrible precedent on this site and the others where Sonore has suggested that people post to get the free OS 2.9 upgrade. They make a great product (I have two myself) but this stunt will hurt their reputation.
  9. Qobuz loading VERY slowly today but streaming seems OK. I am in the Atlanta, Ga area.
  10. My 1.2 is going strong but if it does go to PS heaven I’ll buy one of these. My 1.1 died (twice) but that didn’t stop me from buying a 1.2. No other company was trying anything like the 1.2 at the time. There are always risks at the cutting edge!
  11. One I can think of is Audirvana Studio which takes Apple 32 bit floating point Core Audio output and does a conversion to fixed point before sending to the DAC. I think there is also a lock into Exclusive Mode going on there as well but I admit that I really don't understand exactly what they are doing. They also have an option which reduces some back ground processes during playback which I also use. I use the UPNP output to go direct to HQP OS on another machine. Works great!
  12. I had that combination working on my desktop machine before I switched to HQP 5.
