In theory, I think I should be buying something like Audioengine. At present, however, I don't think I have the money to get them. I am thinking of just buying the Altec Lansing FX 4021 as a cheaper option. Comments?

Pardon my ignorance. Are the audioengines a 2.0 or a 2.1 system. Also the speakers do not seem to have a volume control, or do they?

Hi Chris, Thanks for the quick response. But that sound system is out of my range. The max. that I can spend is $400.00 (and that is still stretching it). Do you have any other suggestions? Jerry

Hi guys, I am looking to buy a 2.1 Speaker system for my macbook. I listen to bands to bands like mars volta, radiohead, poerishead, pink floyd, metallica, some jazz artists. At the moment I own a logitech 2.1 speaker system but the bass is too much (even when the bass setting is set to zero) and the sound quality is not great. I have been reading about the Klipsch Promedia GMX 2.1 system but apparently it is outdated. The other options I'm thinking of are Altec Lansing MX 5021 or FX 4021. Can somebody please advise me on how to go about this? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry
