  1. Hi guys, As the owner of a Mytek Stereo 192-DSD DAC Preamp and looking to upgrade, I am interested in the Brooklyn+ and the Liberty. Do you think the either of these would be enough of a SQ upgrade to warrant the cost ?
  2. Hi Guys, Looking for some advice please. I have recently changed from a Logitech Touch to a standard 2011 Mac Mini. I've an external USB drive for the source material and a Oyaide firewire connection to my Mytek DSD192. Using JRiver; It plays fine, but when playing DSD files I am encountering a hiccup about 4 seconds into the track which then carries on fine. Any recommendations to cure this. The Mac Mini is running Mac Os 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. Would recommend a later version ?,although I wouldn't want to go beyond Yosemite as I believe USB2 is no longer supported
  3. Considering a New Mac Mini to use a a music server with the Mytek DAC. Have a couple of questions that hopefully forum members can advise. Will USB2.0 work into the USB3.0 sockets on the Mini Will a Firewire connection still be possible using the Apple Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter Having recently connected my iMac 27 via USB2.0 using JRiver as the player I felt there was a marginal improvement over the Logitech Touch/linear power supply via spdif coax I usually use. Am I right in assuming the Mini will be a similar improvement.
  4. Great service from Michal Jurewicz today. Have received latest USB2 driver (2.6.0) which overcame my problem with Yosemite not recognising the DAC ( i.e. wouldn't allow me to load the drivers. He said they will be making it available very soon.
  5. Beware Upgrading to Yosemite OS may mess with your Mytek. "Unable to recognise device" with Firewire and USB2.0 connections. Kennyb123 has identified the problem but I'm not sure Trim Enabler will work for me as I don't have a SSDs fitted Any advice welcome Bit surprised Mytek not on the ball with this as the Beta has been available for months
  6. Hi guys, How much difference in SQ between all the inputs on the Mytek. Currently using Coax/SPDIF and wondering if I'm losing out. Which would you recommend.
  7. Well I've had the Mytek for a couple of weeks or so now. Only running from Squeezebox Touch via coax or toslink at the moment so restricted to 24/192. Finding the jumpers installed and -3 on the analogue volume control sounding pretty nice with my Rega Brio R amp. Dedicated server in the pipeline so I can connect via USB/Firewire and play some DSD files.I have to say that this is :- One Helluva Dac Well Done Michael and thank you.
  8. Well I've done the jumpers. For the moment in Bypass. Still not a lot of wiggle room on the amp volume control. 8 o'clock on the Amp = Quiet 9 o'clock................. = Medium 10-10:30 o'clock............... = Loud Enough No sign of clipping and the speakers ARE fairly sensitive. Will give this a listen for a while.
  9. Yes Ted, you are absolutely right. Max output/performance from the Mytek without clipping.
  10. Un-jumpered Bypass Mode is definately too hot for the Amp. I think I'm right in saying that if you're not using bypass mode then you are using two volume controls (DAC and AMP). What I've been trying to do is use a "normal" position on the Amp and set the ouput level on the Mytek accordingly. In fact if I turned the amp volume control to 11 'o'clock the Mytek would probably be somewhere near -30. I don't want to compromise the performance of this excellant DAC and just enquired the best way to go. I think you have confirmed my thoughts that the jumpers ARE required.
  11. Thanks for you replies guys. I have felt that the output from the Mytek was a bit hot; but didn't want to take the lid off unecessarily. So I'll do the jumpers so that the output is more in line with the output of the Rega DAC and get a bit more wiggle room on the amps volume contriol. Presumably there will be no sonic/SQ penalty. Regards Tony
  12. Hi Guys, This is my first post on this thread. I have just acquired a Mytek DSD DAC. I know this has been discussed many times as I’ve have taken the trouble to read ALL posts in this forum. A question regarding output voltages. My Amp is a Rega Brio R’s Input Sensitivity = 210mV at 47K and a Maximum Input of 10.25V While the Maximum Input level of 10.25V seems OK for the Mytek I’m slightly concerned that the matching DAC from the same manufacturer (Rega DAC) which I used previously has a Maximum Output Level of 2.175V into 100Kohm load. Do you think I would be better off using internal jumpers to reduce the Mytek output voltage ? Although It sounds fine, (the analogue volume control around -12 and the volume control on the amp only around 9 to 10 o’clock position with no volume trim.), there doesn’t appear to be a lot of wiggle room on the amps volume control. Regards Tony
