  1. Is that an optical input on the back of the Modi? The one with the O beneath it. What's that for?
  2. Hi, I'm planning on getting the modi3/magni3 stack, could someone tell me what cables will be required please. I will be using headphones (DT990 Pros) but no speakers. I just want to make sure I buy everything necessary all at once. Thanks
  3. Hi, I could use some help from some audio gurus. I'm going to buy some Beyerdynamic MMX 300's and a pair of M-Audio BX5 D3's (there may be better options for the same prices?) and I'd like to know what DAC would be good. I read that people tend to begin their audio journey with a Schiit stack which would be a DAC and an AMP? It's two things I know that but I don't really know anything about all this stuff. I was planning on getting a Sound BlasterX G6, I used to have one and did enjoy it, but it's gamey and maybe not the best? I'll be gaming and watching youtube/twitch, I won't be making music or producing audio content in anyway. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
  4. Hi, I'm gonna get some of these Edifier R1800TIII's. They say a "speaker connecting cable" is included, but what is that? Is it this? I'm gonna need to buy more so I need to know what it is. Thanks
  5. Quick question: If I'm getting the SBZ7 (600ohms) is it a mistake to get 38 ohm headphones? (ATH-AD900X's).
  6. Those things are too expensive for now (I think, I'll find out for sure soon), but damn, that is what I would want. I don't quite understand the audio stuff so I don't know what's impressing me lol I guess it just looks cool The advice here has been great, I don't want to get something that is too "low budget", I don't want a downgrade from my SBZx. What I've decided to do is sell my SBZx and save up for the SBZ7. I have not mentioned this but I've been looking at some ATH-AD900X's but I can only find 38 ohm versions. My brothers' 700X's are 250 ohms and my DT770 Pro's are 250 as well. Should I try to find some ATH-AD900X's with higher ohms or is 38 fine?
  7. Are the ATH-AD900X's only available in 38 ohms?
  8. I'm looking for some ATH-AD900X's and I can only find 38 ohm versions. Now I don't know crap about audio but isn't 38 ohms weak? My brother has ATH-AD700X's that are 250 ohms and so are my DT770 Pro's. Am I being dumb? Am I just not seeing the 250 ohm version?
  9. I just learned I need both a DAC and an AMP. I have decided to go for the Schiit Fulla 2.
  10. Hi, I'm going to buy some ATH-AD900X's and I will sell my Soundblaster Zx soundcard and replace it with a Schiit Modi 2 DAC (I heard it's better quality, and it's cheaper the the SoundblasterX G5 I was going to get).. I want to know what I'm doing before I spend any money. So I see the magni has a USB socket so I guess that's how it is powered. I see two RCA sockets so I guess I need a 3.5mm to RCA to connect it to the output of my onboard sound? Why would it use my onboard sound? AH, I'm confused. Edit: Sorry, it's not a Magni, it's a Modi DAC, the post has been updated.
  11. I know it pretty crappy but I just want something cheap and good enough for now. One day I'll upgrade to a Focusrite Solo and an AT2020.
  12. I looked and the 2nd hand focusrites are not really any cheaper. Even if the volume may be low on the Behringer U-PHORIA UM2 I can always boost it.
  13. All I intend to do with my audio setup is to record Let's Play's, that's it. I never thought about going for something second hand, I'll look into a second hand focusrite solo, good idea
  14. Hi, I'm gonna buy a Behringer C-1 Studio Condenser Mic, I was also going to get a focusrite solo but decided it costs too much. I'd like to spend £30-£50 ($40-$60). What are the best available for that price? Thanks Edit: I only need one mic input. Edit: So far, I think the Behringer U-PHORIA UM2 seems good.
  15. Just an update: I realized monitors aren't really for me, I'm going with a pair of Edifier R1600T III's.
