  1. No static noise here. Aries is sitting right on top of my Vega DAC and right next to my Merrill Audio preamp. But one other problem (re)occurs: firmware won't update from beta 5.02 to 5.04. I've tried unplugging and switching off Aries, but my app keeps saying that I have the latest firmware. Any suggestions?
  2. Has 5.0 beta 2 been pulled? My Aries is still on beta 1 and doesn't update to beta 2, although it is set to receive betas. It says I have the latest firmware.
  3. I think this is jumping to conclusions. I only read that Auralic is apologizing for the long time it takes to create an Android version. I don't read that development has stopped. If you want to know for sure, send an email to Auralic support instead of freely interpreting a Facebook message from a non-native speaker of the English language.
  4. Signal Path now is QNAP NAS with Minimserver --> Apple Time Capsule --> CAT7 network cable --> Auralic Aries --> Audioquest Cinnamon USB cable --> Regen --> Auralic Vega. I am planning to replace the Cinnamon with the TotalDac USB cable/filter. After somewhat over 24 hours of music, Regen seems to be burning in well. Especially at low volume, sound is better than ever before!
  5. Regen arrived yesterday. In between Auralic Aries and Vega it works as advertised: obvious improvements in all respects. But maybe most important: exact clock mode on Vega now works without any problems, greatly improving sound quality. As others have said: a no-brainer for the money. Currently still using the included SMPS. Wonder what further improvements will be possible with a good LPS. Will try later!
  6. Battery powered sounds good. How long does a full charge of the Anker last? And do you leave the battery plugged in to the wall outlet, or disconnect it when charged and plug it back in when needed?
  7. Listening to Earth, Wind & Fire in DSD right now. Rhythm is excellent, really pulsating. I'd say the 'politeness' that DSD sometimes has, has been traded for more realism. Differences however are so subtle, that speaking of 'improvements' and such is indeed not quite describing it properly. My new amps might be part of the equation though - very, very happy with my Merrill Audio Veritas :-)
  8. Anyone know where to find the firmware for the Vega? I have a few DSD256-files that I would love to hear!
  9. Weird, switching to wifi and switching Aries off and on worked. It started updating to fw 2.3 instantly. Switched back to wired afterwards, haven't noticed any difference though.
  10. Following up on the latest posts about firmware 2.3 I wanted to update my Aries too. LDS says I have 2.2 and that my firmware is up to date. Refreshing doesn't change that. Has 2.3 been pulled because something is wrong or is Europe on a different roll-out schedule?
  11. I had a Transporter before I bought Aries. I tested both with AES/EBU out to my Auralic Vega DAC, with files from my local library (no Tidal yet in the Low Countries). Aries is better by a pretty good margin!
  12. iPad Air 1 should work fine, that can't be the issue. I have attached two pics: one shows my Minimserver settings, the other shows the tags in a WAV-file. I think the only thing I changed in the Minimserver settings is the "itemTags" where I put "AlbumArtist". That helps to sort albums by Album Artist instead of Artist. For example, I put Ludwig van Beethoven as Album Artist and The San Francisco Symphony as Artist. Minim server then sorts this album under Ludwig van Beethoven. With LDS I can stil search for the performing orchestra though. How does this compare to your tags and settings?
  13. I experienced a similar problem when selecting an album: it would play two tracks and then either stop completely or repeat track 2 before playing the rest of the album. Upgrading from iPad 3 to iPad Air 2 solved it with Lightning DS. But even on iPad 3, everything worked fine with the Lumin app and Kinsky. This was all several updates of LDS ago. Nowadays even with my old iPad, I have no more problems playing full albums. After one of your previous posts I tried tagging some WAV-files, using Sbooth's Tag application. It actually works, the file shows up correctly in LDS, Lumin and Kinsky apps. I haven't tries any USB-drives, as everything is on my NAS. Hope you can get it to work. Aries should be able to give you a musical and happy 2015!
