  1. Hey Now, I tried, but I don't think this works for me. I lose the network and can't use the NAA. I tried several different settings and none worked for what I want to do. This must be for an older version of the Airport Utility. My version 6.3.5 does on have an advanced tab. I did get the Airport Extreme to go into Bridge Mode, but again, this did not give me the results I was looking for. Thanks for your suggestions, but I am still wondering if what I want to do is possible. Do I need to purchase another piece of equipment? And how do I configure the network to use my iPhone as a hotspot and have my LAN co-exist? Thanks again. -- Finest kind, Chris
  2. Hey Now, I didn't know that. Let me go futz around and see if I can make it work. Thanks. -- Finest kind, Chris
  3. Hey Now, I am not sure this is possible or not. I am hoping/thinking it is 8^). Currently I have an Airport Extreme wireless/ethernet network set up using satellite internet and the cost is quite high. We recently got very good coverage of cellular LTE out here in the country side and the cost is about half of the satellite internet for data using our iPhones as hotspots. I would like to swap out the satellite service and use the cellular hotspot. I have gotten close but I have been fiddling around with no apparent knowledge of networking. I can set up the ethernet network with no access to the internet, or be off the ethernet network with access to the internet with the iPhone hotspot. I need to keep the same set up I have now, it works good. I was hoping I might get some advice and see if it is possible. Here is my current network set up: Satellite modem > ethernet > Airport Extreme (WAN port) > 1st port - iMac > 2nd port - music streamer with HQPlayer's NAA > 3rd port - PowerLine adapter > switch > RPi2 and Airport Express (wifi extender mode) I need an ethernet network for the HQPlayer to NAA for my music streamer. But I also stream Tidal too, so I need internet access while streaming to the NAA. I have only been able to set up an either or situation, I only chose one or the other in the Network settings, ethernet or iPhone (USB or Wifi). I was reading about a wireless ethernet bridge (?). Is this what I could use to get internet access from the iPhone hotspot into the Airport Extreme WAN port and maintain an ethernet network for HQPlayer/NAA? If so, any advice on which wireless ethernet bridge to purchase and how to set it up? Thanks in advance. -- Finest kind, Chris
  4. Hey Now, Gustard X20u under a grand for sure used. I have only seen one used and it sold pretty quick. Love mine, best DAC I've had so far. Upsample all PCM to DSD256 via HQPlayer and NAA. Balanced out. Remote included. Volume control. Tweaking capable. -- Finest kind, Chris
  5. Hey Now, Full clone twice a day. Once a week, clone to naked HD kept off site (work). Music on mirrored FW800 RAID and backed up daily, with once a month or so naked HD backup for off site storage. Paranoid after losing 1TB of music once. -- Finest kind, Chris
  6. Hey Now, Oh yeah, especially upsampling everything to DSD256. I use Roon/HQPlayer with NAA via a DIY NUC streamer and it sounds very good. Can't get enough of listening now [emoji39] -- Finest kind, Chris
  7. Hey Now, You are out of luck because Tidal is the best. There might be a second best for you [emoji39]. -- Finest kind, Chris
  8. Hey Now, I bought the CD set and have been auditioning them this weekend. Very enjoyable, some interesting interpretations. I have been up sampling all to DSD128 or 256 via HQPlayer and have not found the recordings to be harsh. Some of the recordings are distinctly better than some of the others in the collection. I've been a Deadhead since '75 and know these songs well. A lot of the artists I have been listening to for the past several years or so. I was surprised at how many I was familiar with [emoji13] I also have been listening to the just released remastered Grateful Dead July 1978 Tour Set as well. The Red Rocks shows are stellar, and not because I was there, but the energy and vibes from the band is palpable. Keep on truckin'. -- Finest kind, Chris
  9. Hey Now, Sony Walkman ZX-2, fantastic bit of kit. Hi Rez + DSD. Built like a tank. Lots of storage, 128GB internal, external micro SD up to 128GB officially, but some have had success with the 200GB SanDisk. I use it with the Sony LOD in the truck. Android OS. Use a TRRS plug for balanced output. I download lots of Tidal tracks for offline use. Connect to my iPhone as a wifi hotspot for streaming over LTE. I like mine a lot. -- Finest kind, Chris
  10. Hey Now, This is what I got and it is the best I have heard computer audio in my system: $275 Speakers - Omega Super 3Ts (used) $85 Bucket subs - DIY $650 Decware Super Zen drives Omegas (used) $190 Crown XLS-1500 drives bucket subs $325 iFi Micro DSD DAC/HPA (used) $26 AQ Dragontail $180 Regen $30 AQJitterBug (used) $250 DIY NUC SuperStreamer w/AudioLinux $100 HQPlayer (upsample everything to DSD256) $450 Roon Total $1981, some new some used. I already had a 5K iMac i5 and network. This sounds terrific to me. I don't want to quit listening to my system, not getting much sleep lately. Really enjoying it. -- Finest kind, Chris
  11. Hey Now, I used an Audio-gd Reference 5 DAC for many years. It was a solid piece of kit. I had good communication with King-wa, who personally responded to my many e-mail inquiries. He also provided me with detailed instructions with step by step photos illustrating the resistors I needed to swap out to lower the gain. Nice stuff, highly recommended. I also owned an Audio-gd ROC pre/HPA and Digital Interface. I would have kept it, but curiosity got me into DSD [emoji12]. -- Finest kind, Chris
  12. Hey Now, Not sure how many albums my 20,000 tracks make up, many are whole concerts as a single track. I only had one issue with a Sony plug-in that the Roon folks solved before the next update. I couldn't believe how responsive they were and I was on the trial version at the time. I bought a lifetime subscription right after that. I did notice that it took a long time and was slow during the set up. I use HQPlayer with Tidal and it works great. I have not had any issues except for the plug-in. The user interface is terrific and with an iPad mini to boot. With my aging eyes I would not want to use an iPhone. HQPlayer and Tidal integration makes me explore so much music I was never able to afford before. It is a very nice time for music lovers. Kudos to Roon! -- Finest kind, Chris
  13. Hey Now, Most of my 2TB music library is ALAC (95%). I use Roon to play my ALAC files through HQPlayer. Up sample all files to DSD256 with HQPlayer on my iMac. I use NAA on a DIY Intel NUC music streamer with AudioLinux. Works like a champ. Best sound I have gotten out of computer audio so far. -- Finest kind, Chris
