  1. hi all, much like some other newbies here i found this site trying to get more info on pono. chris, great interview btw. i honestly hope that pono can succeed, i already have a portable player that can play 24/96 so i haven't donated to the kickstarter. i am more interested in the music service aspect of it and having more hires music available for download. but i think they are going to need to do a lot of advertising between now and october to even have a chance at success. most of my friends are fans of live music, and live music recordings. just about all of them have turntables and appreciate the sound quality of vinyl vs digital. they understand what FLAC is and the difference between MP3 and lossless files. most of them are in their 30's and have some amount of disposable income...you'd think they would be the target demographic for pono. but even with the press releases and the sxsw announcement and interviews, i haven't talked to one of my friends who has even heard of pono, at all. none...and a few of them were at sxsw. i have seen several posts here about how pono will have to get some younger users in order to succeed. you guys with kids, ask your kids if they have heard about pono or if their friends are talking about it. i'd be willing to bet the answer is no, they only know of it because their parent is an audiophile. i guess my point is, NY keeps talking about bringing better music to the masses...but in my experience, none of the masses are even aware that it exists yet.
