  1. I am looking to improve the sound stage and transparency of my system, I think the DAC in the next weakest link. The DAC in question is a 707 Super Pro USB. It was major improvement over the stock output of the mini but I feel i am still missing some "air" and "transparency" from the system. All files are Apple Lossless. System as follows: Mac Mini and 707 Super Pro USB DAC at my source B&W 685s Bi-amped Yaqin MC-10 Tube amp with Mullard EL-34s for the midbass (Low Pass passive line level XO) Yaqin MC-10 Tube amp with Tung Sol El-34 for the tweeters (High Pass passive line level XO) All backed up by a B&W ASW750 sub (1000 watt XO at 45hz) Are there any opinions/suggestions on if DAC upgrade will have a noticeable change in overall sound. Im looking at the Proton, Cabrige, CA or a Scott Nixon. Please help.
  2. That thing is sweet. I have already blown my wad on speakers and amps. I'm going to have to keep looking for a software sollution or hack.
  3. Thankyou for the quick response. I have read that the newest iTunes volume does not affect total sound quality. For me with my pair of tube amps biamping my B&Ws with passive line level filters is good enough for my office system and iTunes volume with apple remote is so convenent. It's just that I'm replacing the Airport express and opitical outputs with an old mini mac (that I restored) and USB to the same dad that I used with the AE. Now I have this volume control issue. PS apple remote to control iTunes though Mira software. Any other thoughts.

  5. I have a similar problem with my super pro dac but only on usb not on the optical out. It is too loud on the bottom of the volume when the top is perfect. Seems like the first 3-4 positions on the itunes volume are very insensitive. I think it could be a driver issus. Any ideas?
