  1. Dude, I was at that show at the Harvard Theater. Incredible life changing.
  2. I'm nursing my iPod classic until my Pono arrives in october. I'm stoked about the ability to use 128 gb sd cards. I heard a pono at a local event and the difference was incredible. I A/B'd an ALAC song on my phone with a 192/24 identical song ("Old Man" by Neil Young, ripped to my iPhone from the Harvest DVD-A). I was not prepared for the HUGE difference in quality, because it seemed to sound fine until I heard the alternative.
  3. It was a great event. John honestly answered a host of questions, ranging from Pono in cars to the UI to the upcoming store. I felt like my Kickstarter dough was in very good hands. Glad that Miguelli liked my Martin Logans
  4. I used it with Martin Logan Mikros 90s. It sounded incredible in a crude A/B with an iphone playing the same Neil Young song. Like, incredible.
  5. What a wonderful event. Chris, thanks. The Pono is going to be a major hit I think.
  6. Chris, I RSVP'd and will be there after work. For once, the Los Angeles traffic will work in my favor; I live in nearby Pacific Palisades and this is on my way home from my office. I really look forward to meeting you and Mr. Hamm, and I hope you can answer some questions that I, as a longtime audio enthusiast with a beer budget, have about computer based audio. I am especially interested in your thoughts as to how one can improve on using itunes as the hub of my audio system. I have over 16,000 songs, mostly cd rips, and am readying for the pono release in October. I have bought a couple sets of headphones and put together a nice little office system (Topping Vxr amp with Polk Monitor 30 speakers). I'm using my MacBook Pro usb out into the DAC in the amp and it really sounds sweet. I'm sure the pono will sound better, and as an early adopter (kickstarter backer 510) I'm very excited about what I hope will be a real paradgm shift in the way we access and play music. So, see you there. Peter
  7. Jock, thanks. Yeah, I actually wound up with a vx1, and it's a great piece of gear.
  8. I have narrowed my search down to one of these amplifiers. I plan on using it in my office with some Polk audio monitor 30 or R150 speakers. Are these amps good? They do get good reviews. Does anybody know the difference between these two models? I don't need the ability to go very loud, because this will solely be for use in my office, which is small. I will also be using it with my Mikros 90 headphones by Martin Logan and, eventually, a Pono player. For now, the plan is to use the usb in to take advantage of the DAC, using my MacBook Pro or iphone as a source. I only need one source input. Are there any other amplifiers in this price point I should be considering, that will drive both external speakers and headphones (not at the same time of course)? It does not look like there are any viable tube amplifier options for this price ($100) Many many thanks!
  9. I would like some suggestions for a two headphone amp to use with my Martin Logan mikros 90s. I will also be using this with a Pono Digital music player. Can anybody suggest anything? If it were to be integrated, to drive speakers, so much the better. I'm excited to try a tube amp. I'm happily using a Fiio E-11 portable, but would like a home tubed (or hybrid) solution. Thanks to all!
  10. I cannot seem to find a way to losslessly compress the music on the fly to change the sampling rate. If you can tell me how that is one, I would very grateful!
  11. Hello all-- In anticipation of my Pono hi res player coming this October, I have begun to rip my DVD-A's. I have about 100 songs that are sampled at 96 through 192 kHz, with more on the way once I rip my Neil Young Archives blurays. When I sync my iPod classic, iTunes gives me an error message saying that the iPod classic won't support that sampling rate. For the interim, I used XLD to make 44 kHz versions, but it's unwieldy to have multiple copies of various songs in my iTunes library on the affected albums; I'm using a complicated workaround using checked boxes for the various songs and syncing accordingly. If I were to install Bitperfect, will it be able to automatically convert these songs to 44khz, to keep my iPod classic happy, without me having to have duplicate lower resolution files in my library? And, Bitperfect seems to get pretty good reviews. I generally stream via airplay from my laptop or iPad to my apple tv connected to my Marantz 5006 5.1 system with my lovely Swan Diva 4.1's etc. Sampling issues with iPod aside, what is the consensus on audible differences using Bitperfect? I don't want to spend the hundreds of dollars that the competition seems to charge, and I want to have the hi-res files readily available for when my Neil Young LE Pono arrives. I also listen to my Martin Logan Mikros 90 headphones with a Fiio E-11 amp when on the go. Is Bitperfect a good solution for my setup and goals? Thanks very much for any advice!
