  1. Excellent! Thanks, Flatmap and Audio_ELF. A little intro to me: I'm a complete newbie to High-Res audio, but I do have a background in music, specifically as a radio producer and DJ. I left that field about 20 years ago, but never lost my passion for music. I've never had the money to do all the things I like, so things like home theater and travel have eaten up most of my spare cash. In the last few years, though, I've devoted more time to music listening and this has spurred an interest in better gear. First I picked up a pair of Sennheiser 650s (the first headphones I ever paid more than $80 for) and an Augio-gd Compass. Not the best gear in the world, I know, but man it sounds great to me. I'm on my second Sansa player (ClipZip) with the Rockbox firmware. And last December I broke down and bought my first pair of custom IEMs (Alclair Reference). The Alclairs have really made a huge difference in my daily train commute, but they're also driving me to improve my music sources. Hence my transition to high-res. I just finished re-ripping my entire CD collection (only about 1500 titles) as FLAC APE using Monkey's Audio. And now with the PONO I'm starting down the path of high-res audio. Along the way I have rekindled my love of all things musical and it feels like I'm coming into high-res at a good time. Thanks again for the quick responses. Cheers! Legolad
  2. Hi folks, Wow, this thread is crazy. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to sign up as a new user because there was so much drama in this thread. In the end, I decided to sign up just to see if anyone had an answer to this: Will I be required to use the PonoMusic app to move files on and off my Pono? I'm a MediaMonkey user and I prefer using MediaMonkey or Windows file manager to manage the content on my devices. I got a free iPod years ago but after a few weeks with iTunes I got rid of it (long story re: usability). Anyway, I'm hoping to avoid getting stuck with yet another player that can only be updated via the manufacturer's software. For the record, I've already backed the project, so I'm in it for the long haul. I just wanted to set my own expectations about what I'll need to deal with. Thanks! Legolad
