  1. JRiver will do that at the time of playback, there is an option for it.
  2. My local station switched classical to hd2.
  3. Well thats great news. Any word on when it might be coming?
  4. Have you heard if the Bridge II will be compatible with the PWD MKII?
  5. Consumer Home You can dig around there if you really want to know.
  6. Interesting that Onkyo USA support person wrote "The engineers think this is not possible and that the gap is in fact the unit trying to buffer the next song. Also they instruct that, only way to have no gap would be to make all of his music on continuous track (which obviously isn't practical)." in 2012. This is inline with my understanding of DLNA, it fetches one resource and then the next. If it did support cue sheets as suggested that would fix it. Also, other players have software workarounds so it can pre-buffer/request the next track and provide gapless playback. I am not an expert on DLNA so I may be wrong. Are you sure the Onkyo app's do not provide additional queue's to the receiver about the next track. I bet it does and if you to use a generic DLN controller it would no longer function as gapless. I think the reason PS Audio has problems with gapless (from what I've read) and has not supported a workaround like the ones other companies have, is because the bridge itself doesn't have enough horsepower. PS Audio may speak to that further?
  7. You have to blame Sony for that, gapless is not part of the DLNA specification.
  8. My point is not that crowd funding is a bad thing. I like it and participate in a few projects. I don't think that crowd funding being successful means having a dealer has to fail or be corrupt. The premise of the article seems to be, now that we have crowd funding we don't need reviewers or dealers.
  9. Don't get me wrong, I like the 30 day trial policy like PS-Audio but its not a replacement for demo'ing a wide variety of products at a B&M store. What it is great at is letting you A/B an option in your exact environment. There is a place for both and while it works well enough with DAC's, the same can't be said for many other audio components. Wilson isn't going to ship me a 30k pair of speakers for a 30 day demo. A dealer may loan me a pair for a week though.
  10. It's a similar problem for me so I completely agree. From a standpoint of what I prefer: I'd rather have 80% more dealers than an Amazon of Hi-Fi. More dealers and volume would produce more competition and drive down prices also. The main issue right now is there is no competition for dealers even in most large cities.
  11. I am paying a premium to support local dealers which give me the benefit of being able to browse and listen to a variety of high end equipment without having to buy it over the internet. This is no difference to buying something at best buy or amazon. If its a fixed item, like a movie, I can see buying it over amazon, but if its something highly subjective, like a TV where I may want to see the picture or hear the sound, I'll happily shop at best buy.
  12. Just as an FYI: I'm using an all Apple setup with the bridge and it works better than iTunes. JRiver Media Center 19 on OSX with DLNA server works fantastically. I use it in combination with my iPhone + jRemote. I switched off USB w/ Pure Music and iTunes and I'm never looking back. Now if they could just improve the buffering and network tolerance. Regarding the DirectStream, time will tell how well or how tolerant the technology they've built is to outside power, USB interface etc. In the mean time, I'll stick with the bridge.
  13. I'm not specifically talking about your HDMI comments. That doesn't exist. The bridge does exist and will likely continue to evolve and I cant imagine why anyone would want to use a USB input over the bridge.
