  1. Nice review!<br /> <br /> My question goes into the same direction. How would a transition from J River to Sonata work? Would additional tags such as 'composer' and so on just get added automatically?<br /> <br /> Thanks for you great work here!
  2. Pitty, that would have been too nice! What you are saying is in line with what NuForce mentiones on their website. Was hoping there was a way around using a hub. Anyway, thanks for your confirmation.
  3. Hi, can you connect to uDac directly to the Ipad/camera connection kit, without powered usb hub in between?
  4. I don't know about the number of open pages. You could set a static IP address for your music server. That's what I did to have always the same address. That essential to use webremote. Cheers, Ralph
  5. Hi The webremote funtionality of J River Media Center has now even a search functionality! I love it! I have only been using webremote to control my music server and I'm very satisfied. Thanks J River for such a great product. Cheers, Ralph
  6. ok, it's probably time to give it a try. I'm so used to EAC... ) Thanks for your thoughts. cheers, Ralph
  7. yes, I'm using M-Audio Transit that can only handle up to 24/96. I'm looking for a tool, that can downsample the FLAC's. So I would keep a hi-res version for the future and have a "working copy" for now. I didn't know that DBPowerampt can do that since I'm using EAC for ripping. Are there other options? Like a freeware tool or so?
  8. Hi, What tool are you guys using to change the sample rate of FLAC's? I have some 24/192 FLAC's that I need to downsample to 24/96. I read about Audacity - as that good? Are there alternatives? Thanks guys! cheers, Ralph
  9. Thanks, guys. There are no other fans in my system & I'm using an external power supply - like for a notebook - without fan. I looked at the silentpcreview - and the drive I have is recommended there ) It's a WD Scorpio Blue 2.5 inch with 640MB. I guess the problem is, that the drive is attached under the top of my (small) case. Which causes the case to vibrate. I want to try to use grommets for isolation, like these ones: http://www.inline-info.de/index.php?six_do=cms&six_art=33082&lang=en I will report back if that solved the problem.
  10. sorry, guys. I think the noise is not coming from the mobo, but from the spinning hard drive - which of course makes much more sense. By the way, I found an interesting article on hard drive isolation, in case someone is interested: http://www.earshockandvibe.com/pdfs/engineering/2.5HDD.pdf
  11. Hi, that's what I thought. What type of board have you got?
  12. Hi Geoff yes it works when plugplayer is always running on the iphone. As soon as you quit pluplayer it stops after the song. Try also to set that wifi is always running in the plugplayer settings. I spent mor time now with the new webremote functionality in jriver 15. You can remotecontrol jriver thru a browser. I found that much more convenient & it works great. You can browse your library, albums, artists, genre etc. and unlike plugplayer you see the cover images when browsing. And it's fast! You might want to try that as well. Let me know how it goes. Cheers, Ralph
  13. Hi all, I built my want-to-be-silent music server with the Zotac NM10-ITX motherboard. Its passively cooled and has a recent Atom processor. I was surprised to hear quite some noise coming from it. I can still hear it when I'm standing a meter away from it. Am I being over sensitive? Have you got similar experiences? I'm thinking if a Intel 510MO would be better or the one that Chris suggested for the CAPS. What do you guys think? Cheers, Ralph PS. In contrast my harddisk is totally silent..
  14. Hi I just wanted to give a short update on plugplayer. When used with ver 14 of jriver media center, only one song can be played rather than a full album. Jriver promised though that in ver 15 (currently beta) media center will work properly with plugplayer. Also an option to remote control through a browser will be available. I will try it with the beta this weekend. Btw. Media Monkey is ruled out for me as I found the sound quality of Jriver better (compared both with asio out). The difference was quite significant, when listening to 16/41 music (Touch wood, Antonio Forcione, naim... One of my favorite albums). cheers, Ralph
  15. ok, here is my settings for Plugplayer in J.River Media Center. In J.River: Options > DLNA > tick Controller, Renderer and Server Then in the main view on the right you have to go to "Services & Plug-Ins" (hope that's the right translation - I have a German version...). Go to "Library Server" and start the server. Now in the Plugplayer app on the iphone: Go to Devices. There the server with the Jriver Logo should be visible. Select the server and chose the server for Rendering. That's it. Now you can browse your library, albums, artists, genre etc. A search functionality is there as well, but produced an immediate crash of Plugplayer on my iphone. Plugplayer feels like being still in an experimental stage & is by far not as user friendly is Remote from Apple. But I see the potential of the app and will play around with it for a little more. I haven't made up my mind yet, whether I will stick with J.River & Plugplayer or Media Monkey & Remote. The audio capabilities of J.River convinced me, but the remote is important, too. cheers, Ralph
