  1. @MarcelINL do you have me down for two as well please? I tried "quoting" earlier in the thread but it didn't seem to work.
  2. Sorry, not familiar with using the forum! My apologies. David Whistance
  3. Hi Matt, I use the original Lush. I’ve been considering a Lush ^2 but haven’t made the move yet. David
  4. Any thoughts from the early posters on this thread on how best to configure the ET^2? Or perhaps how different configurations affect the sound? My ET^2 arrived on Wednesday so I've only had it in my system for a couple of days. It sits in between my Etheregen (currently powered from a JS-2) and my Nimitra. From the Nimitra I use a Lush USB to a Lampizator Atlantic Plus DAC. There was an immediate, and to some extent unexpected, improvement in sound quality compared with the generic CAT 6A cable I had in this position before. I should probably say that I was, of course, expecting an improvement I just wasn't expecting it to be as much as it was. So far I'm using the default, delivery, configuration and still getting used to the sound but am interested to hear what others findings are before I start experimenting myself.
  5. The best thing would be to contact Samuel Furon at Ocellia who will be able to organise something. I heard mine in at his workshop in southern France but depending on where you are I suspect he could hook you up with an owner nearby who would let you hear them.
  6. Re Semente's comments I agree that single driver style speakers are essentially compromised but then so are all other's in my experience. It's really just a case of choosing which particular compromise you are comfortable with. Before the Ocellias over the years I have owned SD Acoustics OBS, Avalon Ascents, Apogee Caliper Signatures, Audiostatics, Quad 63's and Avantgarde Trio's, all with appropriate amplification. For the music I listen to now (mostly acoustic -Baroque, Classical, Folk) the Calliope's are the best I have heard though I know they will not be to everyones taste
  7. I use a pair of Ocellia Grandis Signature Calliope .30 Twin's (quite a mouthful) with my PSE 2A3 SET amps, see: http://www.ocellia.com/Anglais/a-ncalliope30twi.html. They are very large and the looks are an acquired taste but the sound is to die for. Well worth a listen if you get the chance. They are made in France but the manufacturer, Samuel Furon, is now mostly based in Canada.
  8. After a month and a half of listening to the Nimitra I must say I'm incredibly happy with my purchase. The sound is much richer than my previous modified Mac Mini yet amazingly retains all of the details. My digital system has simply never sounded so good. Other equipment is a Phasure Lush USB cable, Lampizator Atlantic Plus DAC, SJS Arcadia Pre and PSE 2A3 Power Amps and Ocellia Grandis Calliope Signature 30 speakers. Mine is the standard Nimitra so I may well send it off for the upgrade at some stage this year but at the moment feel no need to do so. David Whistance
  9. I should perhaps add that this all took place at 5.30pm here in the UK whilst Mr Punpeng is in Thailand, so it was the middle of the night for him!
  10. Having gone round and round thinking about getting a new "music server" to replace my Mac Mini I have just bought a secondhand Fidelizer Nimitra. As it has only been running for an hour or so it is too soon to comment on the sound quality versus what I had before (though it does sound very good), however I must comment on the amazing service I have received from Keetakawee Punpeng, the designer of the server and the man behind Fidelizer. Though I am reasonably competent with IT products and have been building/repairing my own desktops and servers, both Windows and Mac, for years I must admit I was concerned about setting up the Nimitra because of it's highly optimised version of Windows. I shouldn't have worried as, as soon as I confirmed to him that it was online, Mr Punpeng logged into my Nimitra via Teamviewer, reconfigured it to run as a Roon Core as I requested, upgraded to the latest version of Roon, again as requested, and then reoptimised the system ready for me to set up Roon for myself. If I hadn't felt able to do that I'm sure he would have done that as well. This level of service would be frankly amazing for a new product, let alone a secondhand one. I cannot thank Mr Punpeng enough and on the basis of my experience would heartily recommend him and his products. David Whistance
  11. Well as usual I'm several years late to this particular party, however I recently picked up a secondhand microRendu with the 1.4 board and Signature power supply. It is running the latest version of SonicOrbiter which is a benefit as I thought I might have to send off for a new micro SD card. I finally set it up this evening and am listening as I type. It was very easy to set up, the hardest bit being getting the microRendu to stay put on my "shelf" given the mass of the wires attached to it. Sound quality into my Lampizator Atlantic is frankly excellent, much better than with USB direct from my Mac Mini with MMK kit and JS-2 power supply which is now relegated to another room. I'm using a Lush USB cable and the sound is detailed but rich. I couldn't be happier! David Whistance
  12. Yes it's down for me as well. Hopefully its just a server problem and not permanent.
  13. Hi Mitch Many thanks for the really quick and helpful reply. I'll have to start start saving for a Hilo, or at least looking for a buyer for my current valve preamp. I'll also have to look for a compatible amplifier to use with my moving coil cartridges so I can try using PureVinyl rather than my phone stage. At the moment I use a set of Supratek Merlot valve amps but will probably move to solid state for tri-amping, mostly on cost grounds. I am thinking about three JLH 69's or First Watt amps but will have to see what funds and time allow. David
  14. Hi Mitch, I'm sorry I'm very late to this, I'm looking for a way to connect up a Klipsch horn system in a similar way. Can you confirm that when you say - "the Hilo is connected via USB to the computer and Hilo's 6 analog outputs are input to the 6 amplifiers" - you are using the monitor and headphone outputs as well as the line outs? If this is the case have you noticed any differences, other than the cable terminations, between the three outputs? Do you think that using the Hilo is an improvement on using a PCI card? I ask because I'm getting lost in the spec sheets of the various professional audio interfaces. Many thanks. David Whistance
