Thanks ... Will install the Windows 10 basic version atleast for an improvement in the USB audio software as I use only the USB port in the laptop..Will report back if there is a positive change...

I use a cheap Dell laptop with an i3 processor and 4 GB RAM as my source. I connect a Chord 2Qute DAC to the USB in the laptop as the DAC is galvanically isolated and is asynchronous. I have Windows 7 installed on the laptop with J River the only software and therefore the machine hardly uses any processing power... I do have an external hard drive with music files attached to another USB port in the laptop...Will changing the Windows operating system from 7 to Windows 10 offer any increase in sound quality? The OS change will not cost me much and therefore I ask if the shift is worth it or not? Has anybody experienced a change in sound quality when moving to Windows 10 assuming everything remains the same?

The 2 Qute does DSD upto 128 and if the sound quality is better than Hegel then I would lean towards the 2 Qute... For me clarity/details is the single most important job of the DAC and I would want a DAC which does that very well... Hoping someone is able to compare the DACs so that people like me who are unable to hear can make a decision soon and get on with our lives...

Look forward to hearing a comparison...Have just sold off my Meridian Director and have the 2 mentioned DACs in my list along with the Schiit Gungnir, NAD C510 and even the statement Schiit DAC..

In that case, it will be too expensive as the Indian dealer does not accept returns like musicdirect.com and the Indian pricing is 20% higher than American retail.... Would stick to my current system and not worry to much...

Hi Stupid question but had to ask - I have read with interest about the advantages of the iFi USB power cleaner since laptops/PCs USB power supply is not supposedly reliable......My question is - if we use a laptop with Win 7 for music only and use a Fidelizer to stop unnecessary programs,does the iFi USB power supply still make a difference??? Whatever the power supply, does the USB always give bad power supply even when the laptop does not have many tasks to do?? Regards Rahul
