Bit-perfect use to be the go to word when coming to steaming. Perhaps someone can determine weather this can be said about Tidal via Chromecast... A few mths prior to Tidal compatibility ago the moderator had some reasonable results in various testing... Computer Audiophile - Basic Bit Perfect Testing Of The $35 Chromecast Audio

Used Devialet 120. Plus or minus Auralic Aries Mini. Free 2 years Tidal added to you current subscription. Cant be beat for the LS50 Devialet owners swear by the synergy. SAM extends bass response from 40's to 20's DAR just wrote and article about it. A measured response: the KEF LS50 + Devialet's SAM | DAR__KO That being said theres no absolute response. You can drive yourself crazy reading thread on integrated matching to the LS50. When I had them I thought the combo with the ARC VSi55 then VSi60 was magical.

If someone could compare the aries mini analogue output to digital output into chord Hugo at some point that would be tremendously helpfull... With all the hugo hype its the only upgrade i would consider. But at the moment im smitten with the internal dac of the aries. Thx Sam -

I think your right on that. That it applies to external dac's and the digital out. I guess its just a specs question for the aries. Dont think im entirely clear on weather theres a difference between DoP and native DSD. -

Does the Aries Mini do Native DSD or only DSD over PCM. If it does, does that mean I have to uncheck the DoP option in Lightening DS. Thx Sam -
I was wondering opinions on the best music server interface/ app. Aurender, vs Lighting DS (Auralic) vs Naim vs Bluesound OS/ NAD vs Lumin etc... If extensive experience perhaps one could rank them... Any thoughts?

Blue Coast Records | Exceptional Acoustic Recordings Without a doubt the best HiRez album I've downloaded. It's now remastered in 11.2Mhz DSF. Link above. I've downloaded many from Blue Coast and there phenomenal really. Thx Sam F Jain

Bluesound node 2 or auralic aries mini
sfjain replied to repos's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
I have been using the Bluesound Vault seamless for 2 years via analogue out. BlueOS has been great and completely bug free. Im curious also to compare PCM analog out sound quality for the Bluesound 2 and the Aries Mini. I've prelim decided to go with the Aries Mini and bought a 1 TB Samsung SSD, because of all the hype, Auralics reputation for building reference dacs with the Vega and to a lesser extent DSD playback. Bluesound has made many upgrades to the 2nd gen including the DAC, and with them being a much larger commercial company (NAD) I wonder of a true comparison. I will mention data transfer with the Vault gen 1 built in hard drive has been painfully slow. If I were to do it over again I'd likely get the node and attach and external USB or connect to a Synology NAS. Over both these option however I prefer the slot for 2.5 SATA avail in the mini, leaving out IT as much as possible. With my new SSD I just connect a SATA to usb cable and its faster than any transfer I've ever seen. I asked the reviewer at Audiostream to make a comparison when he has heard both...
