meridian explorer 2 volume issue
ranocchio replied to ranocchio's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Meridian control panel volume should work only on headphone output ;otherwise ,when using line output ,you have to use pc control volume ,or volume control of the player/streamer you playing with. Everytime you disconect meridian dacs ,control volume on meridian control panel will be reset on lower attenuation -

Simply ,they have Qc problems and they don't admit to have . Friend of mine has the very same unit and he does not have issues to manage haeadphone control volume as ihave . I still have Exp 1which i use with my headphone . I have a Director ,and had problems too(see post).2dacs out of 3 had problems . My next Dac WON'T be a meridian ! -
Sorry miska i am not able to register the new key on 3.17:i pressed register ,but it does not open a register form...the old mode was obvious;and then ...the new generated key it is not clear :i have 2 lines and in between =salt=...i don't understand how to mange it. The trial version is working for few minutes ,but it seems the best sounding to me . On otther Pc i'm olding with 3.16 until i feel safe . Itis not easy to have previous versions if you haven't saved it ;i think you have to make them available on your site . I think you built up the best player but sometimes i feel uncomfortable and unsicure with your site interface and the library management is an headache ! I think that i will hold with Hq player ,but i hope it will become more user friendly and not to be afraid on every windows update. Any way than you for "revolutionary" job

Thank you for posting bobbmd There might be some bug in the firmware;and ,yes i know ,at Meridian ,people is not very responsive . Have you tried to unstall and reinstall the driver ? In my rigs it works with win 7 starter ,win 10;not able to upload the driver with vista power pack 1 ;still remain low volume issue from headphone output . I use hqplayer (straight)last version and jriver 21 and it works nice from line output;it sounds better than E1 ,but less reliable -

Meridian Explorer 2: reliable?
ranocchio replied to Samuel T Cogley's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
I do appreciate ;do you think that 717 factory loaded it is the same firmware marked v1717 that they make available on the support section of E2? In this case i will try again with a Mqa file ;any way with Pcm files works great (great sound ,just a notch down Director ) -
Meridian Explorer 2: reliable?
ranocchio replied to Samuel T Cogley's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
So kind of you ;yes i know ,and that is the firmware which doesn't go to the end ;program find my explorer and says that there is a factory 717 firmware ;whwn i upload the binary file v1717 it goes on and everything seems ok ;then after few minutes the procedure is aborted saying "failed to upload firmware "or something like that ,and "try again );i 've tried so many times ,unistalling and reinstalling the last driver ;no way ;i think that is the same firmware which allows 6 db more gain to the headphone output . I e-mailed Meridian explainig the issue ;no answer (like they did when i had the firmware issue with Director ;at the end they had to admit there was a problem) -

Had previous Explorer 4 since now ,never had a problem . I have Explorer2 since 3 weels :improving image and control ,better mid bass articulation;low volume from headphone ;i was not able to upload firmware which enables Mqa (tried on 2 Pc at least 40 times ) People at Meridian are not responsive (see post Meridian Director strange problem ) Sounds great ;downside :no counceling from Meridian -

I discovered that an extension of the driver is not loaded ;i suppose that has something to do with 1717 firmware . I've tried to load a different bin file ,but it is not possible . When i try to load again the only allowed bin file, the proccess doesn't go to an end . Tried to play an Mqa file ,blue light does not lit(yes ihave put the settings that Miska suggested to have Mqa files played by Hq player). Grrrrrr -
Hi all dear friends last week i bought a n E2 from amamzon uk . I still have explorer 1 and director .I thought selling my old expl to a friend of mine and have an upgrade for low . E2 arrived and works great on line output ,but i can't contrl volume from the meridian control panel with headphone output. Firmware is v1717 , i use Hq pl last version and j river . I reboot driver a lot of times ,i ve tried on the control panel ,i ve tied to change from asio to wasapi ...no way. When i hook up my old explorer everything is ok ,aka i am able to control volume from the meridian panel . I checked on my last pc with i7 and win 10 ,same story Never had volume isuues with my previous dac E1 Obviously i had to upload last driver from meridian which works flawlessy with explorer 1 and Director Any idea? Have a nice nice year
