  1. To me, what makes the Micro versatile is its preamp section, headphone driving power, XBass and 3D options, battery size, and ability to charge external devices.
  2. I say get the Micro iDSD. I don't have any experience with the REGEN but considering the versatility of the Micro it's a WIN.
  3. Are you planning on using headphones or using the iFi device as a DAC only?
  4. Hi Chris, There is a Yggdrasil in Minneapolis. If you are interested in reviewing it, I can contact the owner for you. He is an awesome guy!
  5. I'll run the idea by Alclair. It's something I would like to see happen.
  6. Would you be open to demo'ing gear? A program that would allow a demo is something folks have been pushing some manufacturers to try.
  7. Moon Audio had a huge exhibit at the entrance to CanJam. Did you visit the Avatar Acoustics/iFi Audio exhibit?
  8. After passing by the Moon Audio table, there was a row with exhibitors placed back-to-back. Alclair was the second company in from the end of the row.
  9. As great as the iDSD is, it's the company that takes the cake. Their interaction with us over on Head-Fi is enamoring for us owners. It's a good feeling to have an affordable product with an attentive company like iFi. Please keep us posted on your decision. I can't wait to hear your impressions on how a CIEM compares to your home stereo setup.
  10. I am not certain what the thought is behind creating the 8-driver. The entire product lineup has been revamped so adding a new product is natural progression I guess. The price hasn't been disclosed yet. Depending on how much labor goes into producing the monitor could tell the tale. Another iDSD guy. How do you like it with your Alpha Dog's?
  11. Oops! It's nearing completion by Alclair. I was hoping for it last year then I was hoping for it this month but it's still going through some adjustments. I know the RSM took 14 months to complete and the 8-driver design is approaching up on that. The intent of the new product is to improve on the RSM; it's not being developed to serve a purpose for a stage musician or performer. What will you be using for a source on the airplane?
  12. I have never heard the UERM so I can't comment on that one. The K10 is everything people say it is and to my ears it's different than every in-ear I have heard. People don't use the same verbiage/terminology as I do to describe the K10 but I call it warm and lush where others don't. I know you to be a home audio guy so I would tell you it's like a high-end Sonus Faber system. It conveys music in a sensual, listenable way. On top of how good the K10 sounds, Noble Audio produces the coolest looking stuff. Now, the JH13 and the RSM would be more of an apples-to-apples comparison with the K10 being an orange. The JH13 is a tremendous performer and it was ahead of its time when it was introduced by JH Audio. I feel that now it has been surpassed as more and more manufacturers appear to have conducted more comprehensive measurements/tests than when the JH13/JH16FP was designed. The Siren Series is going to be your best contender to other TOTL in my opinion. I hope I am not stirring a pot here. Everything before the Siren Series, as far as I know, was designed by ear.. The RSM with a copper headphone cable can get you that Sonus Faber sound but it's more neutral to my ears. By neutral, I mean not as lush. It is also very listenable with a sound approaching more of a Magnepan, ESL, or reference style speaker. Both, the RSM and K10 have no flaws to my ears. It's really a matter of taste. What I adore about the RSM is that it can easily be transformed with different gear and cables. I didn't like the Estron Linum BaX cable with it however a Forza Audio cable was a step-up. Also, the Micro iDSD is a fun treat because the 3D adjustment sometimes adds a 'headphone' effect I really like. I am not certain that all IEMs can do that. Did you learn about the upcoming 8-driver today?
  13. Nope, I am not an employee. Alclair asked me if I could help them better understand the consumer audio side of the business. That is why I was at RMAF/CanJam with them. On the last day of RMAF I manned the booth alone because they accidentally booked their flights to fly home one day early. I was not excited about being on film.
