  1. Cool. Looks like that setting automatically updated itself already. This time I tested with dsf files I made using iso2dsd, and the transition was flawless. I don't know why I was getting the crossfading issue earlier. I know I saw a setting for gapless playback for songs within albums. I'm thinking.....when going between different songs, it crossfades by default, but plays straight gapless for same album tracks, and somehow earlier in my testing it wasn't playing or detecting the tracks as part of the same album? I dunno....but it works great now. It seems iso2dsd is the answer, and if you need to have a pcm version of something, using jriver to convert to flac is the way to go. I also now have a dvd-a/v made of a corrected Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire, so I'll finally be able to hear that one as it's supposed to be heard.
  2. I'm not using anything that supports DSD. My soundcard is a delta 1010lt, so anything I'm doing involves having software convert DSD to PCM, which it seems is where the trouble lies.
  3. Deal. Meanwhile, I did start a new thread with the intended purpose of having a place to post any procedures that people are currently using to do this properly, for the purpose of having a place separate from this mess that is an easy one stop thread for procedures without having to wade through all this thread. Any postings there would be greatly appreciated, and hopefully helpful to many others that come by here. I have so far successfully gotten a pop free conversion using jriver to convert the extraction I got from iso2dsd. If there's a simpler way to do this with less steps though I'd love to hear it...but maybe there isn't. I still don't have a way to playback dsf files without issues between the tracks, foobar seems to just be plain and simple bad, and maybe jriver needs some configuration, I'm not sure.
  4. Ok, I see what happened, I didn't really think of emails of posts being sent out that wouldn't have corrections. I was genuinely confused when you said it was the fronts that was reversed. I wasn't sure if you were agreeing with me but being snarky due to the tension that has built in this mess of a thread, or if you misunderstood me, or if you were referencing my thread before the correction, which I did make rather quickly, so I figured most people probably would have missed it, I didn't think about the emailed copies of posts, I've only been reading threads here and deleting the emails, I just thought of them as notifications that the thread was updated with a link to the thread, but I see now it has the text. I am in no way denying that I did get that wrong at first. I was genuinely confused, and questioning it for genuine clarification, which I've gotten here. I didn't mean to piss you off over this. Look, we've all gotten off on the wrong foot. I've been a bit of an ass here, and I apologize for my role in that. Is there any way we could return to civility here? Or are you going to really deprive this thread of useful clarification just to spite me?
  5. Should we really deprive everyone of useful information just to spite me for reacting a bit poorly to my frustration?
  6. Ted, no, you misunderstand. Yes, I did say rears at first because I misremembered. After I typed that post, I realized that I may have mis-remembered, so I pulled up the files to check, and I went back and edited the post, but that was before your post stating that it was the fronts, which is why I was confused, because I had made that correction long before you posted. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I may have gotten frustrated here, but I wasn't trying to maliciously edit my posts as you suggest.
  7. Well yes, nyquist, of course. So is going to 88.2 considered going to a format that one doesn't need to be concerned with filtering high frequencies from DSD sources? It seems foobar has a setting specifically for filtering....is this not a concern for anyone here?
  8. No, new thread with the purpose of having a simple solution that is easy to see without having to sort through 8 pages of discussion that is unclear, may have some misinformation, and also is full of much nonsense. Would a simple step by step solution for properly converting DSD to PCM without errors not serve this site well?
  9. I'm confused by the hostility in your comment about Birds of Fire's front l/r being reversed, as we seem to be in agreement about that. I'm also confused at your continued hostility towards my lack of discussion on a DAC, when my question revolves around pops that I've stated several times I've visually confirmed exist on the PCM data that foobar creates. I've yet to see any evidence from anyone on this thread that foobar can be used to create pop free PCM data from DSD sources.
  10. Again, when using foobar to convert an SACD iso (or any DSD files I've created through other processes), to any PCM format, whether that be wave or flac, I get VISUAL pops on the PCM files. This isn't a playback issue, this is a DSD to PCM issue in foobar. When opening the resulting wave or flac file in sound forge, I can clearly see the pop that has been created in the DSD to PCM issue. So, your question to the DAC I am using isn't relevant to the question I am asking, this isn't about playback, this is about DSD to PCM conversion. Now, when it comes to playing back the dsf files created using iso2dsd, that very well may be a playback issue. I've been using a delta 1010lt sound card on my PC. However, the same pops I hear in foobar are the same pops I see in the created PCM files from foobar, so I don't believe the DAC is the pop issue in playback in foobar, as the DSD to PCM process foobar is using not only plays back the pops, it also creates them in the PCM data that is output. JRiver has been funky with some kind of crossfading, maybe that's a configuration issue, but I've asked that above, and ask again here, if anyone can offer insight on that, that would be appreciated. If anyone is able to produce non pop PCM files using foobar, please do state how you are doing this. My configuration may be off, but I have listed my process up above.
  11. For anyone that cares about providing useful information in this thread..... Ok, so it seems the best process for DSD to PCM is using iso2dsd to get one large .dff file for the whole album, and then with the settings kumakuma generously posted above use JRiver to convert the .dff to PCM. My confusion in this process comes from there being various settings in foobar, which has proven to be inadequate in converting DSD to PCM without pops (unless someone knows a way to not get pops in foobar, but I've yet to see a way), that I don't see in JRiver. In foobar, it was necessary for me to convert twice, once at 0 dB, check the level (which I did by using the normalization setting in sound forge), and then set my dB and convert again. There is also a DSD2PCM mode dropdown in foobar, which I had to do some research on, and found you could set different filters to filter out high frequencies that SACD players typically filter out. Is JRiver doing any of this? Or am I getting PCM files with high frequency noise that should be filtered out? Also....for those SACDs that I don't need to edit, I suppose it would be better to stay in the DSD realm for storage, rather than unnecessarily convert to PCM. In that case, if I understand correctly, iso2dsd is supposed to be able to convert to DSF properly without creating pops in the files themselves. However, up until now my playback method for SACD had been foobar, which seems to add pops on playback, so even properly created DSF files are useless as far as foobar goes. (correct me if I'm wrong on any of this). It seems players I've seen mentioned for playback include JRiver, and Kodi. When playing back dsf files in Kodi, I get silence....no sound at all. Does something need to be configured there? In JRiver, it doesn't seem to work right at all, I seem to get some weird crossfading of some sort going on, although I found a setting that is supposedly supposed to playback album tracks gapless....but that hasn't worked out. So I've yet to find a way to playback dsf without gap or pop issues. Any insight or clear instruction about these matters would be appreciated.
  12. I'm merely pointing out a frustration that this thread is causing, likely causing many others the exact same frustration. Your continued stubbornness only continues to make this thread a waste of space and time for each and every person that comes across it. Do you really want your site to continue to be a waste of time due to your hurt feelings over my frustration in the lack of clear information on this lengthy thread, and the time I've wasted pouring over it today?
  13. Thank you, I appreciate this response, this is very helpful. Thank you so much for your time.
  14. I tried that aui program, it doesn't do anything. It isn't working.
  15. I really don't understand this attitude. I asked a question, you didn't answer it. You just wasted my time with a response that doesn't give any real information. If you aren't going to answer the question, why waste all of our time? I didn't think my question was that unreasonable. After reading through a lengthy thread that goes on and on about very technical information, I'm just pointing out this thread really doesn't serve much of a purpose for those looking for a clear answer for this. If you really do want to provide helpful information, you really haven't been doing that at all.
