  1. It’s not a discussion if you announce in advance that you won’t change your mind. There is no exchange of ideas, i.e., not a discussion. Sorry.
  2. The original post is an abrasive troll I won’t bother to quote, followed up with: “I intentionally started a discussion about the greatness of EC. You're free to challenge my opinions but expecting more than, I don't like him or find him great, will get you nowhere.” There is no discussion there, nothing, call it what you like. I heard that the internet was self policing/evaluating/correcting, whatever.
  3. “I intentionally started a discussion about the greatness of EC. You're free to challenge my opinions but expecting more than, I don't like him or find him great, will get you nowhere.” A really good definition of a troll. What is there to discuss?
  4. The point is nothing. Entropy. This is a dead-end thread.
  5. Amen. Still waiting to hear AD’s evaluation of EC by period. Pre-Mayall, Mayall, Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek & Dominos, Delaney & Bonnie, beyond. He was a bit of a chameleon. All boring/meh?
  6. Arguably, the British Invasion reintroduced the US classic blues players to the US where they were pretty much marginalized and ignored.
  7. Oh no. Something I heard in a hi-fi shop. Just examples of things I’ve read or heard.
  8. The problem with this thread is you have no point to make. It is entirely, a gigantic troll. Is the goal to get the longest thread on AS? You find EC to be meh. So what? As at least one one other poster mentioned this title could apply to any musician/band be it rock, jazz or classical. The Beatles aren’t very great, Ringo isn’t very great, Bill Wyman isn’t very great, Bob Dylan can’t sing, Coltrane should never have played soprano sax, blah blah blah. Your opinion is based on your opinion. There is no analysis or reasoned argument, just slagging boomers, middle America, EC, and all the guitarists and great blues songs that EC seemed to ruin somehow. No doubt your taste is impeccable, but it is your taste, however poorly articulated. Obviously no one can change your mind based on the thread title. So you are just encouraging those that enjoy EC and those that find your brush a bit broad to respond, but to what end? Essentially, responses have to prove the negative, which is impossible. I know I would be much more interested in your posts if they expanded on what I already know, rather than criticizing someone who has been around for 50+ years. For example, what guitarists do you think are worthy of more commercial success/attention today and why? Educate me. I am not a huge fan of EC, but I find his work in the 60’s and very early 70’s hard to dismiss as meh. Seconding previous posts, if you have listened to Layla Derek and the Dominos album Layla and are not moved, well, please tell us what makes the grade.
  9. It sounds like the wireless connection between your phone and the Ace is broken. I have Simaudio 380d dac with MiND2. To fix the problem you are describing, I turn off the the 380d at the power switch. Since it, and the Ace I assume, are always on standby, you have to physically turn off the Ace using the power switch. I also turn off the iPhone wireless connection in settings. I then turn everything back on and usually that solves the problem. Rebooting the router as well. It would be useful for you to understand how the music is getting into the Ace. If the music is coming from an external source, via wireless or cable, then a fault in that connection can also cause problems. Also, assuming you purchased from a dealer, visit or get on the phone and query. Helping you solve problems with something you purchased from them is their job. Also, Simaudio tech support will respond to emails. good luck
  10. Have not had this problem for while. Besides rebooting router, I turn off power to MiND and shut down iPhone. You can also reset MiND. Where is the music library? On a computer or a NAS? Is the the server software on the computer or a NAS? Maybe reboot those as well.
  11. Thanks. I am a naïf in this area. Richard Goode is my go to guy, with a smattering of others.
  12. I'm not a big fan of polls, but this assertion by wakibaki suggests the need for one. After "prot" & his ilk made coherent conversation on this site all but impossible, I quit following and now just drift by by to see how the flagellation was going down, and if I could learn anything. I suspect statistically, the all bow-down-to Nyquist-Shannon theorem are a tiny minority, but I could be wrong. So maybe a poll could sort out the curious, open-to-possibility types that listen to music, and those that seem to believe that theorems are all we need. The funny thing is that when CDs (16.44) were first introduced in the early 1980s, most anyone with an ear was not impressed unless all they cared about were no tape hiss and no record pops. Since then the sound of CDs has improved dramatically, the theorems have not changed. So I guess I'm saying theorems are great, but listening is too. All these criticisms about not believing in science are mostly bogus since the proponents arguing theorems (math), and very little listening. We need a poll. The losers get a small ice berg and a new forum of their own creation. The rest of us, I'm guessing, get to wonder, ponder, speculate without constant reminders from the theorem scolds that nothing is possible and that everything sounds the same. I hope the theorem school will lose their crappy headphones, crappy DACs and crappy sources, and spend some time listening to music. I'm not optimistic since certainty, not curiosity seems to be their tagline. Thanks Rob
