  1. So I decided to climb out from under a rock and give Amarra Luxe a spin versus Amarra 3.03 that I currently use. The item I am confused about is DAC connection. With the 3.03 it is quite obvious with the software when the DAC is connected and being used as the converter. The Luxe version appears as though it (the software) is the converter. Does Luxe automatically default to a DAC as the converter once the DAC is found or is my assumption that Amarra Luxe is the converter right?
  2. Kids are so small - by Deerhoof. hands down... I'll accept my prize now
  3. You are absolutely right, as my example DEF JAM has the 24 bit rights to the release I am referring to and of course it is available to everyone but us Canucks... so most obviously Label plays here as well.
  4. Yah, with a Canadian band " Mother Mother"'s latest release in 24 bit on their site and yet not available to us Canadians. WTH is with Canadian music laws that makes this happen? ARGH! Makes Prostudio just useless.
  5. Took the plunge off Prostudiomaster 24/192 ... holy smokes! speechless...
  6. Are all these high DR value tests coming from the download at Highresaudio only? I've noticed Qobuz has a 24 bit version that just showed up (although I can't find the kHz rating) ... was wondering if its all the same file? Thanks!
  7. I can't agree with the treble comments. Nope. I'd say quite on par with the original release. In regards to sounding better - Definitely better clarity (especially with minor keyboard effects. Some will talk compression and all.. and I'm sure to some degree it has been to bring all the small things forward and punch up the bass BUT it is not a fatiguing release by any means. I can see it becoming my go to for this album.
  8. My bad... for some reason the fuse did blow (just in a non visible spot)... but why? grr... lesson learned: deal with the three blue lines... if it ain't broken don't fix it
  9. Well.. read the manual... switched to b (with every thing unplugged) plugged back in to NOTHING. No power. Switched back to A no power. Checked fuses all good there... DAGNABBIT! glitch alright!
  10. OOPS - should have clarified ... I get the three blue dashes meaning (of course) that it is not shut off and waiting information. Thx.
  11. I have me a Mac book with usb to an ayre qb-9. The qb-9 should be switching off when the laptop is shut off but, alas...it does not. That would lead me to believe that the USB sends power/signal with the lap top on and off. Is there a way of switching the usb post off when the machine is off? Thx!
  12. Old system is B&W 800d's and Rotel New is KEF R900 spks and R400b sub, Ayre ax-5 Integrated amp, QB-9 DAC and Lx5e Power system, Shunyata Power, signal cables and Outlet, Audio Note sub connect, Audio Quest TRUE 2.0 USB Connect, Mac Pro 16 GB running Amarra ... basically pulling from the fastest external SS hard drive I could find and dumping to the DAC using only the Cache as a hold... All components on AYRE isolation blocks except power being on Symposium rollerblocks... Guarded by Lady Deat (My son is a HUGE comic nerd and what started out as a joke has turned into a permanent fixture)...
  13. Salamander won this one... For all your recommendations and help, Thanks. With the money I saved 'm gonna get my lady a rack....
