DSD or Direct Stream Digital is a one bit recording format. DSF and DFF are 'kinds' of audio files that are delivered as downloads or read by software for playback. DSF has the ability to hold metadata and DFF doesn't, however, some players only read DFF files. In PCM recording, DSF and DFF would be similar to having .wav and .aiff files which are both PCM More complex answers to the above question exists, but for those new to DSD, this is a simple explanation.

Thank you Freann. 1,the noise is "zi zi", not very big ,but can be heard clearly, maybe a little like the water flow, if i turn the music louder, the noise will be louder. if i play DSF file ,the noise disapear. 2, i have selected Automatic detection and other settings, and DAC (MPD3) indicated DSD: but DSF file is ok, SACD ISO and DSDDIFF(DFF) file has noise. 3,What i am talking about is not DoP (DSD over PCM), I am talking about the DSD play. In my setting i think MPD3 does not do the DOP work. Audirvana complete the DOP work. MPD3 can read any format file, 441 882 352.8 48 96 DSD64 DSD128. the Playback Designs MPD3 has no problem. 4,whant is the version of your audirvana plus? maybe the different version can read the ISO\ DFF without noise?

I think you will change your idea when you ever tried to play native DSD ? A+( version 1.5.10 ) can only play DSF( one of DSD) file very well. But It can play DFF and SACD ISO file with terrible noise. Have you ever tried it? and which version is your A+? thanks

DSD Playback Problems w/Audirvana
bigmusicfans replied to rockerz's topic in Music Downloads & Streaming
Maybe we have met the similar problem: I have bought a A+ last week, and the version is 1.5.10. now i have some problem in playing DSD: 1\ When i play the DSF files which is from Blue Coast, the sound is perfect. but when i play SACD ISO files, i can hear the music, but at the same time there are obvious noise. the setting is the same in the preferences. 2\When i put the DSD convert to PCM 352.8, at begining it is perfect, but after 2 or more hours, the music will not be coherent, just a little bit on and off. why? 3\ My DAC is Playback Designs MPD3 , which is perfect. -
i have bought the version of 1.5.10 last week, and now confused at play SACD ISO files, i wish the new version will play SACD ISO perfectly.
