  1. I've since done some more troubleshooting and decided it's the sub that is at fault. I brought the sub back to the dealer. Waiting on a replacement. Thanks for the reply though!
  2. I bought a Golden Ear super sub X today. Hooked it up to the variable output on my Hegel. The problem I'm having is that depending on what I'm doing it messes with the levels of the sub instead of matching it to the volume I'm at. One example would be watching youtube videos. It cranks the sub volume all the way up and then it's too loud. Once I switch it to music it's basically 100% which is WAY too much for this thing. Would there be any loss in quality by switching it to the fixed output? Are there any drawbacks?
  3. Think you could do better for the money.
  4. I owned the AudioEngine A5's and A5+'s. They're not as good as the KEF X300's but would be more appealing if bass is important. They're easy to add a subwoofer to. The KEF's aren't. Personally, I'd get the KEF's in that range. You get better soundstage and clarity. Plus they come with a built in DAC. The only thing the A5's do better are bass and the ability to easily add on.
  5. So I actually ended up buying the Hegel H160 (from Jeff)! It's a very impressive piece and so far I'm absolutely happy with it. It's managed to get even more sound out of these KEF's. Are there any other things I can do driver wise to get the most out of this setup? I want to make sure I'm getting the absolute best this thing has to offer. I know there was a lot of tinkering I had to do with my DACMagic Plus. I use Foobar for a player.
  6. What is the pricing on the H160? I'm assuming it has outputs for a sub. I'm using a Totem Storm.
  7. Going to be purchasing a new integrated AMP very soon. Within the week. I'm trying to decide between an NAD 390DD and Gato Audio Dia-250. The NAD would be new, the Gato Audio would be a floor model that I'd purchase from the local audio place. They want 2800 for it used. I'm going to be using this to power my KEF LS50's. I know the Gato is complete overkill for what I need. However, since it's the same price (about 200 more) than the NAD 390DD I figured I'd consider it. Does anyone have any experience with either one of these?
  8. Yeah, definitely. I think for $1384 after tax it's hard to go wrong getting the 390DD for that price.
  9. My dealer doesn't have either on hand unfortunately. They're the only NAD dealer anywhere close as well. If you're saying that the 390dd is more accurate and true to the original recording I'd be fine with that over staying warm. You said there wasn't any ear fatigue which is another main concern I would have.
  10. So then what is your opinion on keeping the 275 and getting a C 510?
  11. Could you maybe elaborate on how it would sound different? I already have a full set of cables and don't really want to buy new ones as I'm happy with what I have.
  12. Okay! So! I currently have an NAD 275 BEE and a Dac Magic Plus. My issues lie with the the DAC, the quality is much lower than expected. One of the LEDS has died and the volume knob is finicky working only sometimes. I'm extremely happy with my amp however. This brings me to my question. What do I get? I can either keep my amp (275 BEE) or get a new integrated. The store that I bought my amp / dac from will allow me to bring them back and get a NAD 390DD for only $1299 plus tax. I really do like NAD so I'm fine with staying with an NAD. I could also get rid of just the dac and get a C 510 from NAD. TLDR: I want to replace my dac. Do I keep my amp and get a C 510 or replace everything and get a 390DD which is freakin' sweet. Edit: Speakers are KEF LS50's I love them long time.
  13. Reshaman, do you think it's worth the jump from E-sub to the Fathon 110?
  14. Looking to spend around 1500 ish. Could go a bit more if the sub is amazing. JL Fathom for instance. Also, I'm considering throwing a power conditioner in the mix. Something like the RGPC 400. Any thoughts?
  15. Not sure how well that would turn out for me haha.
