  1. That's a most interesting post and very helpful. I have the QuteHD with Teddy Pardo and love it. I was hoping that there might be an upgrade path beyond the Ex to something Hugo ish, but now I think I may have what I want already. I haven't heard the Hugo, but I'm no spring chicken; my hearing isn't going to get any better and neither is my bank balance. It's hard not to get swept away with all the amazing reviews it's got, so hearing a moderate, informed, contrary view is great...and most refreshing
  2. Many thanks for the swift reply. It would now seem that upgrading the Qute to Ex standards would be a mistake if a more significant upgrade is in the (not too distant) pipeline.
  3. "re the Home DAC, I'm still hoping they ( as Chord have hinted) will give an at cost motherboard upgrade to EX and HD, to avoid making them completely redundant!" I'm just wondering where Chord have hinted at this as it would be a sensible upgrade. When I emailed them about upgrades I got this response: 'The Qute upgrade from HD to EX is 200.00 GBP plus shipping. You can either return the Qute to your retailer or send directly to us here at the Pumphouse. Turnaround is usually about a week. The Hugo is a totally different concept and design. It is a portable device designed primarily for music on the move through headphones whereas the Qute is designed purely as a high-end stand-alone Hi-Fi source component.' which suggests otherwise. Thanks to all for the really informative reviews and views
  4. I'm interested in any improvement in the sound from USB. It's hard to know whether to upgrade to EX from HD or get an Audiophilleo. And now the Hugo is added to the mix!!!
  5. I'm interested in this too. I'm wondering whether to upgrade the HD to EX or maybe add Audiophilleo2? For any who have upgraded I'd be interested in what you think. And now the Hugo is throw into the mix...!!! [h=1][/h]
  6. Not that simple I'm afraid. I have the 2.1mm connector. It came with the 2.5mm one, but Teddy quickly sent on the correct one when informed that the unit took a 2.1mm connector.
  7. Thanks for the reply Dan. I have emailed the person I was dealing with at Chord and asked the very direct question: Hot or Not? Will post when they get back to me.
  8. Hi. First post from a very entertained and enlightened lurker here. I bought the chord back in May from a UK dealer using Amazon in May. I loved it and after a couple of months I got a Teddy Pardo PSU to push it's performance on a bit. So far so good. Just recently it has begun to run at a tepid temperature. It's not heating up at all compared to the way it used to with either PSU and from different power points. There is a drop in performance too. I sent it back to the dealer who said it was 'fine' and that it performed exactly the same as their on display model. And returned it to me. I also emailed Chord, but my dealer never sent it on to them. I've had it on all night with the Teddy and since early morning with the stock PSU and still running warm to cold. Anyway, any advice and I wonder if anyone has had this problem. Many thanks Niall
