I have a NAD M51 using USB connection on a Win 7 machine.
I recently purchased some HD 24/192 tracks by The Eagles and noticed that when playing these in Media Player Classic the NAD was only showing 44.1 on the screen.
I then switched to XBMC using WASPI and the screen on the NAD correctly showed 192K.
If I go to the control panel -> sound -> and change the properties on my NAD I am able to set the default sample rate and bit depth to 192 / 24.
My question, should it be set on 192 / 24 in Windows permanently? Doing this seems to up-sample my standard content (my FLAC CD rips show up as 192 when using MPC).
Is Windows doing some crude up-sampling here (I have not had a chance to do listening tests)?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
